A precise dollar figure would be speculation: the available numbers describe Warner Bros.’ business, entertainment revenues, historical board compensation, or a separate charitable foundation—not Meyer’s personal assets minus liabilities.
Is Barry Meyer’s net worth publicly known?
Not from the reliable sources reviewed here. They document Meyer’s career and some figures connected to businesses and board service, but do not disclose his personal holdings, debts, investments, or a transparent calculation of his net worth. Any online figure presented without clear sourcing should be treated as an unsupported estimate, not a verified fact.

How did Barry Meyer make his money?
A long Warner Bros. career
Meyer joined Warner Bros. in 1971 and became the company’s chairman and CEO in 1999, according to the Los Angeles Times’ 2000 profile. He spent 42 years at the studio, as recounted in a 2015 Case Western Reserve University profile. He left the CEO role in March 2013 and later departed as chairman, according to the Congressional Record, which reproduced a December 2013 TheWrap profile.
That tenure supports the broad conclusion that executive work was central to his career. It does not reveal how much he earned over time or what he retained after taxes, spending, investments, and other financial obligations.

Later board service
After retiring from Warner Bros. at the end of 2013, Meyer joined Activision Blizzard’s board. A 2014 GameSpot report, citing an SEC filing, listed a $90,000 annual base retainer, an additional $5,500 for committee service, and an option to receive company stock. These are dated compensation terms for board service; they do not establish the value of stock he ultimately received or his overall wealth.

Several large figures associated with Meyer’s career can be mistaken for personal wealth, but they measure something else:
Rank #2
- Warner Bros.’ scale: A 2000 Los Angeles Times profile described the Warner Bros. operation Meyer inherited as a $7-billion business. That figure refers to the company, not his personal assets.
- Harry Potter box office: Case Western Reserve University reported that the films together generated more than $7.7 billion in box-office gross. That is a franchise-level gross figure—not Meyer’s income, ownership stake, or net worth.
- The ER deal: The university profile also reported a three-year deal totaling $858 million, at a then-reported $13 million per episode. Those are reported deal terms, not compensation paid to Meyer.
- Foundation assets: Information about the Barry and Wendy Meyer Charitable Foundation concerns a separate charitable entity. It should not be counted as Meyer’s personal property.
Revenue, deal value, box-office gross, compensation, and personal net worth are different measures. A net-worth calculation requires evidence about an individual’s assets and liabilities; the career and business figures above do not provide that information.
