Bangladesh Remittance Inflows Rise 15.1% in FY2026–27 So Far

Bangladesh’s reported remittances reached $8.798 billion from July 1 through October 3, 2026, up 15.1% against the same dates in FY2025–26—not a full-year result.

Bangladesh received $8.798 billion in remittances from July 1 through October 3, 2026, a 15.1% increase from $7.643 billion over the same dates in FY2025–26. The figures are a partial-year, year-on-year comparison—not a full-year FY2026–27 result.

What the FY2026–27 figures show

Dhaka Tribune reported on October 5, 2026, citing Bangladesh Bank data, that remittance inflows reached $8.798 billion between July 1 and October 3. For the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year, the reported total was $7.643 billion. The $1.155 billion difference amounts to reported year-on-year growth of 15.1% for those dates.

The comparison uses matching portions of two fiscal years. It does not show how much Bangladesh will receive over all of FY2026–27, which is still underway.

How the reported total changed from the September snapshot

The Financial Express reported on September 21, 2026, that cumulative remittances through September 20 stood at $7.819 billion, up 14.9% year on year. The later October 3 snapshot reports a higher cumulative total and a slightly higher growth rate. These dated snapshots describe the totals and comparisons available at each point; neither is a final annual result.

Reported snapshot Cumulative remittances Year-on-year growth
Through September 20, 2026; reported September 21 by The Financial Express $7.819 billion 14.9% through September 20, 2026, compared with the same dates in FY2025–26
July 1–October 3, 2026; reported October 5 by Dhaka Tribune $8.798 billion 15.1% for July 1–October 3, 2026, compared with the same dates in FY2025–26

How to interpret the 15% budget target

The Daily Star’s budget coverage described a 15% remittance growth target for FY2026–27. That is a full-fiscal-year target, while the reported 15.1% growth is an observed result only for July 1–October 3, 2026, versus the same period a year earlier. The two figures are not interchangeable: the partial-year rate does not establish whether the annual target will be met.

What these figures do not explain

The reported totals show the scale of remittance inflows and how they compare with the corresponding dates in the prior fiscal year. They do not identify the reasons for the increase, break it down by sending country or transfer channel, or establish how the figures relate to any single household’s finances. Foreign-reserve figures reported alongside the October 5 story are a separate measure, not a substitute for remittance inflows.
