The published figures are at-maturity rates; Bajaj Finance says the rate can vary with the payout option.
How renewal rates differ from fresh-deposit rates
Moneycontrol and Business Standard report an additional 10 basis points for customers renewing maturing deposits. That puts the reported maximum renewal rates at 7.85% p.a. for regular customers and 8.25% p.a. for senior citizens. These are renewal figures, not the standard fresh-deposit rates in the table. What to check before comparing offers
- Tenure: The highest listed at-maturity rates are in the 31–60 month band. Compare the return with the period for which you can leave the money invested.
- Customer category: The cited schedule lists senior-citizen rates 0.40 percentage point above regular rates. Moneycontrol reports that this premium increased from 0.35 percentage point.
- Deposit type: Confirm whether the quoted rate applies to a new deposit or a renewal; reports identify a separate renewal premium.
- Payout method: Bajaj Finance lists monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual and maturity payout choices. Ask for the applicable rate for the option you select; payout frequency may change it. See the company’s rate information.
- Amount: The current published schedule states a minimum of ₹15,000 and rates for deposits up to ₹3 crore.
- Access to funds: Under the company’s stated FD terms, premature withdrawal is restricted during the first three months. From after three months and before six months, withdrawal is permitted without interest; after six months, reduced-interest conditions apply.
- Existing deposits: The company’s FD FAQ says a booked rate continues until maturity. The revised schedule should not be taken to mean an existing deposit’s rate changes mid-term.
Why the rate change coincided with an RBI move
Business Standard reported that the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee raised the policy repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% on October 7, 2026, the same day Bajaj Finance’s revision took effect. The timing provides context, but the cited reports do not establish that the repo-rate change alone caused the company’s decision.
