The additions connected five U.S. airports to destinations including Nassau, Grand Rapids and Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP). These are historical launch plans—not a current route map—and the announcement’s $39 fare promotion has expired.
What Avelo announced
Avelo said the expansion would add three destinations: Nassau, Bahamas; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Long Island, New York, served through Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP). Nassau was described as Avelo’s fourth international destination. The airline said the routes would use Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. The announcement described the network at that time as 56 cities across 23 states and Puerto Rico, plus four international destinations; that is a March 2025 company figure, not a current count. Avelo’s March 11, 2025 announcement also reported that the airline had carried more than 6.3 million customers on over 50,000 flights since April 28, 2021.
The 13 planned routes originated at Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Lakeland (LAL), Wilmington, North Carolina (ILM), Concord (USA), and Wilmington, Delaware (ILG). The two Wilmington airports are different: ILM is in North Carolina, while ILG is in Delaware.

The table reflects the announcement’s planned first-service dates and twice-weekly frequency. Its listed weekdays are reproduced as announced; because some weekday labels may not align with the calendar dates, confirm the original schedule before relying on an operating day.

What the advertised $39 fare did—and did not—cover
Avelo’s release advertised a limited, one-way fare from $39 for ILM–IAD travel between June 13 and August 25, 2025. The booking deadline was March 17, 2025. Avelo said the fare included government taxes and fees, was available on a limited number of flights and seats, and was subject to foreign-government approval. The offer has expired and is not evidence of a current fare.
The company said optional services, including carry-on and checked baggage and assigned seats, could incur additional fees. The release does not establish the total price of a trip after add-ons; travelers should compare the full checkout price for their dates rather than treating a starting fare as the trip cost.

How to interpret the announcement now
A route launch announcement records what an airline planned at that point in time. Avelo’s newsroom archive includes later schedule extensions and a January 2026 network-simplification announcement, so the March 2025 list cannot confirm present-day service. Avelo’s newsroom archive documents later company notices, but the available notices do not establish which of these 13 routes remain active.
- For a current trip, search Avelo’s booking options for the exact origin, destination, and travel dates; do not assume a route still operates because it appeared in the 2025 release.
- Check the airport code and ground transport as well as the city name. ISP serves Long Island, while ILG and ILM refer to separate airports in different states.
- Compare the schedule frequency and total price for the specific dates, including any baggage or seat-selection fees that apply.
What Avelo said about the expansion
Avelo founder and CEO Andrew Levy said the airline was growing at its newest bases and that the new routes would give customers more choices. That is the company’s stated rationale, not independent evidence that a particular itinerary is more convenient or affordable.

The release also said Avelo ranked number one in 2024 U.S. on-time performance and had the lowest U.S. airline cancellation rate, attributing those rankings to Anuvu. Avelo did not include the underlying figures or methodology in the release, so the claims should be understood as the airline’s reported rankings rather than independently verified results.
