It covers data security, identity management, and social media security; participants who pass a module receive confirmation. The quiz is an awareness resource, not a substitute for security software, access controls, or a business security policy.
What the free Avast quiz covers
Avast’s July 26, 2023 launch announcement describes three focused modules:
- Data Security: incidents, breaches, and business data-security practices.
- Identity Management: identity-management concepts, best practices, and access control.
- Social Media Security: social-media security practices and related risks.
The modules address common awareness topics rather than providing a comprehensive security course. The announcement says the quiz is available to individuals and businesses and that confirmation is provided after a module is passed.
Why employee awareness matters to small businesses
Phishing and scams are a practical concern for organizations of every size. Avast’s launch article reports that 65% of U.S. adults wished they knew more about spotting or avoiding phishing scams. That figure comes from a May 2023 survey of 1,005 U.S. adults conducted on behalf of Gen; it is a measure of respondents’ self-reported knowledge, not the share of people who have been scammed or the prevalence of phishing attacks.

How to use the quiz as part of employee training
A business can use the modules as a straightforward awareness activity, then connect the lessons to its own procedures. For example, a training lead can ask employees to apply the data-security material to how company information is handled, the identity module to account access, and the social-media module to business-facing posts and interactions. The quiz’s confirmation can document completion of a module, but the launch announcement does not establish that it is a formal certification or that passing demonstrates operational security.

Awareness training works alongside, rather than in place of, measures such as endpoint protection, strong access controls, backups, and timely software updates. The quiz itself is not a security-software subscription, and the announcement does not describe it as a technical control.

Avast announced the resource in 2023. The announcement establishes its intended audience, three subject areas, and module-completion confirmation, but it does not establish whether the quiz remains live now, provide current module links, or specify pricing beyond describing the quiz as free. Check Avast’s site for current availability before assigning it to staff.
For businesses evaluating paid tools separately, Avast’s current small-business page lists Essential Business Security, Premium Business Security, and Ultimate Business Security. Avast describes centralized online management and endpoint protection across the lineup, VPN/privacy tools with Premium, and patch-management automation with Ultimate. Those are separate business offerings, not features of the training quiz. Avast also says its Free Antivirus and Premium Security products are for private, personal, and non-commercial use, and directs business customers to its business offerings.
