The Australian Powerball draw on Thursday 4 September 2025 was advertised with an $80 million jackpot, the second-highest Powerball prize offered that year at the time. The draw has since taken place: Lotterywest reported on 11 February 2026 that a Peel woman won a $20 million share of the jackpot.
Why the jackpot was described as the second-highest of 2025
PerthNow reported on 3 September 2025 that the upcoming Thursday draw carried an advertised jackpot of $80 million. Its comparison was the $100 million Powerball prize offered in June 2025, which was higher.
The $80 million figure described the advertised jackpot, not a guaranteed payout to one person. Lotterywest’s later account says a Peel woman won a $20 million share. The two figures refer to different things: the advertised jackpot and the reported share won by one player.
What is known about the result
In its 11 February 2026 retrospective, Lotterywest said September 2025 was the last time an $80 million jackpot was offered and reported the Peel woman’s $20 million share. The available account does not give the exact winning numbers or all prize-division results for the 4 September draw, so those details cannot be confirmed here.

The PerthNow article quoted Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender saying: “We could see history repeat itself this week if a WA player takes out the entire $80 million jackpot.” That was a comment ahead of the draw, not a description of its eventual outcome.
Does past number frequency help predict Australian Powerball?
No. Lotterywest says Powerball draws are random and that the frequency of a number in earlier draws does not predict what will be drawn next. Lists of historically frequent or infrequent numbers may describe past results, but they do not improve a player’s odds.

PerthNow’s pre-draw report discussed numbers described as “luckiest” and “least reliable.” Those labels should be read as historical frequency descriptions, not advice about which numbers to choose.

A syndicate lets players share the cost of entry and any resulting prize according to their arrangement. It does not make any number combination more likely to be drawn. Lotterywest’s later guidance describes syndicates as a way to share entry costs; it does not suggest they make outcomes predictable.
