AT&T Protect Advantage is optional monthly device coverage that combines insurance, a service contract, and ProTech support. Under AT&T’s individual and Multi-Device terms effective October 20, 2025, the individual plan costs $16, $19, or $25 per month depending on the device tier; Multi-Device costs $50 per month per enrolled mobile account. Those charges are separate from a device-specific replacement deductible, which AT&T says ranges from $25 to $400. The exact certificate for your state, device, and plan controls what is covered and what a claim costs.
What is AT&T Protect Advantage?
AT&T describes Protect Advantage as an optional package combining Protect Insurance, a Protect Service Contract, and ProTech support for an enrolled device. Insurance and the service contract are distinct parts of the plan, not a single blanket promise to repair or replace every device in every situation. The individual terms effective October 20, 2025 identify Continental Casualty Company, a CNA company, as the Protect Insurance underwriter and Asurion as administrator; the service contract is provided by Asurion Warranty Protection Services or an affiliate. See AT&T’s individual-plan terms for the applicable contract details.
AT&T’s support overview describes protection for damage, loss, theft, and certain out-of-warranty malfunctions. A manufacturer warranty, by contrast, addresses covered manufacturer faults during its warranty period. The specific covered events, exclusions, and service obligations depend on the certificate that applies to your enrollment; review that document rather than assuming every listed event applies to every device or state. AT&T provides a general device protection and warranty overview.
How much does AT&T Protect Advantage cost?

- Product Eligibility: Plan must be purchased with a product or within 30 days of the product purchase. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
- Terms & Details: More information about this protection plan is available within the “Product guides and documents” section. Simply click “User Guide” for more info. | Device tier | Published monthly charge |
|---|---|
| 1–2 | $16 |
| 3–4 | $19 |
| 5–6 | $25 |
These are the published charges in the cited terms, not a guaranteed quote for a particular line or a future price. Confirm your phone’s tier and the amount on your wireless bill. Individual coverage continues monthly on the bill until canceled.
Multi-Device coverage
The Multi-Device terms effective October 20, 2025 list a charge of $50 per month per enrolled mobile account, with coverage for up to four eligible devices. The primary device must be connected to an eligible postpaid wireless plan; additional devices may include eligible connected devices or certain Wi-Fi-only tablets. Eligibility and device-registration rules apply. AT&T’s protection plan page says changes to Multi-Device are scheduled for November 17, 2026. That date is a scheduled change, not an already-effective rule; check the terms in force when you enroll or make a claim.

What are the deductible and claim limits?
AT&T Support gives a replacement deductible range of $25 to $400, with the amount depending on the device. That is separate from the recurring monthly charge. Before comparing coverage with paying for repairs yourself, check the claim fee for your exact device and plan in the applicable terms or claim flow; the range alone does not tell you what you would owe.
The individual and Multi-Device terms effective October 20, 2025 state that claims are unlimited in number, with each claim capped at $3,500. “Unlimited” therefore does not mean that any individual loss or replacement has unlimited value. Read the individual terms or Multi-Device terms matching your enrollment.

How do claims and replacements work?
Claims require approval under the applicable insurance or service-contract terms. An approved replacement may arrive as soon as the next day, but that is not a guaranteed delivery date: same-day or next-day fulfillment is available only for select devices and markets, and depends on claim approval and delivery eligibility. Replacement equipment may be new or AT&T Certified Restored, according to the individual-plan terms.
For Multi-Device, registration and timing rules can affect when a device is eligible to claim. The terms describe waiting periods for some non-connected devices and claim-linked registration rules. Check the full Multi-Device certificate before relying on coverage for a recently added tablet or other device.

Who can enroll, and can you cancel?
The individual terms say enrollment must occur within 30 days of device activation or upgrade, or during an open-enrollment period. A bring-your-own-device phone may be eligible within 30 days of activation on AT&T’s network, subject to the plan’s eligibility rules. Enrollment is not necessarily available at any time, so check whether your device and account meet the current requirements.
Individual coverage can be canceled at any time through MyAT&T or by calling the number listed in the terms. The terms provide a prorated refund of the monthly charge upon cancellation. Confirm how cancellation affects your bill and any related device or account coverage before proceeding.

What should you verify before enrolling or filing a claim?
- Your state and certificate: AT&T’s terms index includes separate New York and retired-program materials. The October 20, 2025 terms cited here are not universal; use the certificate that applies to your state and enrollment. The AT&T Legal Policy Center terms index lists device-protection materials.
- Your plan and device tier: Check whether you have individual or Multi-Device coverage and confirm the tier used to calculate the monthly charge.
- Your actual claim fee: Look up the deductible or service fee for the exact device rather than budgeting from the $25–$400 range.
- Covered event and exclusions: Distinguish insurance claims from service-contract claims, and read the relevant definitions, exclusions, and claim conditions.
- Replacement and service availability: Confirm whether your device and location qualify for repair, replacement, or expedited delivery, and what condition replacement equipment may have.
- Enrollment and registration dates: For individual coverage, verify the enrollment window; for Multi-Device, check any applicable registration and waiting-period rules.
How to compare the plan with self-insuring or a warranty
Compare the total recurring premiums you would pay over the period you expect to keep the device, plus the applicable claim fee, against the repair or replacement cost you would otherwise cover yourself. Then account for what the certificate actually covers, the claim cap, replacement-device condition, and whether the service is available where you live. A manufacturer warranty may address covered faults but does not by itself establish protection against loss, theft, or accidental damage; use the warranty and protection documents to compare the same risks rather than treating them as interchangeable.
For a household considering Multi-Device, compare its account-level monthly charge and four-device limit with the individual-device charges and each device’s eligibility. Device mix matters: a connected primary device is required, and some additional devices may be Wi-Fi-only tablets, but registration and waiting-period rules can change the practical value. Do not assume a different insurance plan is equivalent unless its current certificate establishes comparable deductibles, exclusions, claim limits, and replacement terms.
