The Assam State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC) advertised 7,600 tentative Class III posts and 5,000 tentative Class IV posts in 2023—a combined 12,600 vacancies across two notices. Applications were open from 10 November to 29 December 2023, so the application window has passed. The details below describe that recruitment cycle, not a current opportunity.
What did the 2023 SLRC notification announce?
The two SLRC notices covered tentative vacancies in Assam government Class III and Class IV posts:
- Class III: 7,600 tentative vacancies.
- Class IV: 5,000 tentative vacancies.
The combined total of 12,600 is the sum of the two notice figures; it was not stated as a separate vacancy figure in the cited notice passages. See the Class III and Class IV recruitment notices.
What was the last date to apply?
The notices set the online application period from 10 November through 29 December 2023. The closing date has passed; candidates cannot use this historical announcement to apply now. The notices also stated that there was no application fee for any category of candidate.

What were the eligibility requirements?
These are the terms set out in the 2023 notices, not guidance for a later recruitment cycle.
- Candidates had to be Indian citizens and registered with an Employment Exchange in Assam.
- Class IV posts had category-specific minimum education requirements. The notice excluded candidates with qualifications higher than HSSLC (Class 12) or equivalent.
- Applicants submitted an online form with a recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature. The Class III notice said a submitted form could not be edited or resubmitted and that applicants received a unique number for future reference.

What was the Class III written exam pattern?
A later SLRC syllabus notice dated 15 July 2024 set out the Class III written-test pattern. It described a three-hour, 150-question multiple-choice exam, with the subject distribution varying by level. Subject counts were approximate; total questions remained 150.

|---|---|---|
| Bachelor’s | Social Studies 30; General Knowledge 35; Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability 20; General Mathematics 30; General English 10; Reading Comprehension and English Language 25 | 150 questions; 175 marks |
| HSSLC | Social Studies 30; General Knowledge 30; Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability 20; General English 35; General Mathematics 35 | 150 questions; 150 marks |
| HSLC driver | Social Studies 20; General Knowledge 30; Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability 20; General English 30; General Mathematics 30; Road Transport 20 | 150 questions; 150 marks |
The syllabus notice specified one correct answer per question and a penalty of one-quarter of the marks assigned to a question for each incorrect answer. It listed Assamese, Bengali, English, Bodo and Hindi as paper languages. Read the SLRC Class III syllabus notice for the exam details.

Where can candidates check later updates?
The Government of Assam Directorate of Soil Conservation recruitment page lists SLRC Grade III/IV document-verification material and syllabus files. That resource confirms later process materials exist, but does not by itself establish the final outcome for every post. For results, appointments or a subsequent recruitment cycle, consult the relevant official department or commission updates at the Government of Assam recruitment resource.
