And ASML’s 2030 revenue scenarios are not stock-price forecasts: without a dated share price and assumptions about earnings, valuation, dividends, and currency, there is no reliable dollar figure for what $1,000 invested today could be worth in 2030.
What does “no real competitor” mean for ASML?
ASML’s standout position is in EUV lithography, a technology used to pattern the most advanced chips. Recent reporting describes ASML as the sole supplier of EUV systems for advanced chipmaking. That is a claim about a specific technology niche—not the entire semiconductor-equipment business.
Lithography is one part of the broader wafer-fabrication equipment market. ASML’s 2025 annual report describes the semiconductor-equipment industry as highly competitive and identifies risks from competitors, technological change, and efforts by countries to build more self-sufficient supply chains. EUV leadership therefore should not be read as meaning chipmakers have no alternatives in every process or equipment category.
Equipment comparisons also depend on more than a headline about market position. Technology and process role, production maturity and customer qualification, cost and productivity, and geographic or export availability can all matter. The available figures do not support a matched, model-by-model performance comparison with named rivals.

What ASML says about its business in 2030
ASML’s 2025 annual report, published in 2026, presents three annual-sales scenarios for 2030. The company also gives an approximate gross-margin range for its scenario framework. These are company scenarios, not guaranteed results or targets for ASML shares.

ASML’s scenario table covers EUV, non-EUV lithography and metrology/inspection, as well as installed-base management. The sales scenarios describe possible company-wide revenue in 2030; they do not specify the earnings per share or share valuation that an investor would need to estimate a future stock price.

What the latest reported results add to the outlook
In results released July 15, 2026, ASML reported Q2 net sales of €9.326 billion, a 54.0% gross margin, and €2.918 billion in net income. The company’s full-year 2026 net-sales guidance was €43 billion–€45 billion. Those are, respectively, reported quarterly results and management guidance—not a realized full-year result.
ASML also gave Q3 2026 net-sales guidance of €11 billion–€12 billion. Its results calendar scheduled the Q3 release for October 14, 2026, after the date of this article’s figures. The company’s CEO, Christophe Fouquet, attributed demand strength to ongoing AI-related investment and progress in AI technologies. That is management’s explanation of current market conditions, not a guarantee that demand or guidance will persist.

Why revenue scenarios cannot answer what $1,000 will become
Revenue is only one input in a stock-return estimate. To turn a 2030 sales scenario into a share value, an analyst would also need to estimate costs, taxes, earnings or free cash flow, and the number of shares outstanding. The market price in 2030 would then depend on the valuation investors are willing to pay for those results. A company can grow while its shares fall if earnings disappoint or its valuation multiple contracts.

- Choose the investment and date. Specify the ASML security and listing being bought, its closing price on a stated date, and any transaction costs. “Today” is not a stable input; the share price changes.
- Calculate the initial holding. Divide the $1,000 investment, after any costs and applicable currency conversion, by the purchase price. State whether fractional shares are allowed and how any leftover cash is treated.
- Build operating cases. Translate ASML’s low, moderate, and high sales scenarios into estimated earnings or free cash flow per share. This requires additional assumptions, including margins, taxes, and future share count; the sales figures alone do not supply them.
- Apply a 2030 valuation method. For an earnings-based estimate, for example, multiply projected 2030 earnings per share by an assumed price-to-earnings multiple. The multiple is an investor assumption, not something implied by ASML’s revenue scenarios.
- Account for the rest of the return. Say whether dividends are reinvested, how taxes are handled, and whether the result is reported in dollars or another currency. Currency movements can change a U.S. investor’s dollar return on a foreign-listed investment.
In simplified form, the ending value is the shares purchased multiplied by the 2030 share price, plus any cash dividends not already reflected in that price. If dividends are reinvested, the share count changes over time and the calculation must model those reinvestments. A useful presentation would show downside, middle, and upside assumptions rather than one precise-looking outcome.
No dated share-price input or sourced 2030 valuation multiple is established here, so assigning a dollar value to the hypothetical $1,000 investment would require inventing key assumptions. ASML’s sales scenarios can anchor an operating outlook, but they cannot by themselves produce an investment return forecast.

- Valuation: Even if the business grows, a lower market valuation of its earnings can reduce the share return.
- Policy and geography: Export controls and geopolitical developments can affect where equipment may be sold and how customers invest.
ASML’s Q3 2026 results were scheduled for October 14, 2026. For an investment decision made after that date, the reported results, guidance, order developments, export-control position, and market price should be checked against the latest available information.
