Some teens may encounter gambling promotions or find ways around online age checks, but the available evidence does not show how many minors gamble at crypto casinos or how much they lose. A 2026 study documented gambling-related material reaching accounts registered as 15-year-olds on major social platforms; it did not measure teen gambling or losses. The distinction matters: exposure is not the same as placing a bet, and examples are not a population estimate.
What the evidence does—and does not—show
The strongest current evidence in this source set concerns exposure and potential routes to access, not a wave of teen losses at crypto casinos. There is no established, representative figure here for how many teens gamble at crypto casinos, how much they wager, or how often they lose money.
That does not mean the concern is imaginary. It means the available findings need to be read at the level they actually measure: social-media observations, expert guidance about access and risk, and a study of Australian adults’ comments about gambling trends.
What a 2026 social-media study observed
In a report published April 28, 2026, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) examined how gambling and prediction-market content appeared on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. Researchers created accounts registered as 15-year-olds in U.S. cities where the forms of online gambling, sports betting, and prediction markets under study were legal only for adults. They searched relevant terms and reviewed results over an initial two weeks in March 2026, then collected further examples in April.

ISD reported a moderation gap involving alternative gambling services, including offshore crypto casinos. Its report was not designed as an exhaustive survey. It documents examples available to those accounts and concerns about platform moderation—not the total reach of the material, how many teens saw it, whether they went on to gamble, or whether they lost money.
How teens may encounter or access gambling
The Child Mind Institute describes several possible routes. These are expert guidance about ways access or exposure can happen, not estimates of how common each route is.

- You've studied the footage, connected the dots, and gathered what meagre evidence you could. You're close - soon the whole world will know the truth behind the Cryptid.
- Cryptid is a unique deduction game of honest misdirection in which players must try to uncover information about their opponent's clues while throwing them off the scent of their own.
- The game includes a modular board, five clue books, and a deck of setup cards with hundreds of possible setups across two difficulty levels. It is also supported by an entirely optional digital companion, allowing for faster game setup and a near-infinite range of puzzles.
- 3-5 players, Ages 10+
- 30-50 minute play time
- Age-check circumvention: A teen might use another person’s account, an older friend’s account, or a fake ID, or use a VPN. These are reported routes, not a claim that every teen can or will bypass safeguards.
- Indirect exposure: Teens may see gambling through streamers, peers, or social platforms without placing a bet themselves.
- Adjacent features: Social casino games, loot boxes, skins betting, and fantasy sports can expose young people to gambling-like mechanics or serve as “priming” pathways. They are not all the same activity as wagering money at an online casino.
Matt Missar, a therapist and certified gambling counselor quoted by the Child Mind Institute, says: “Teenagers are already very resourceful in circumventing restrictions, and so they’re pretty easily available if a teenager is looking in the right place.” His comment describes concern about access; it does not quantify how often circumvention occurs.
What makes crypto casinos a distinct evidence question
General online-gambling concerns should not be presented as findings specifically about crypto casinos. The Child Mind Institute discusses online gambling risk and adolescent development, including impulsivity, but that guidance does not isolate crypto-casino users or establish a crypto-specific rate of harm.

A 2024 peer-reviewed paper at the USENIX Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security is titled “It was honestly just gambling”: Investigating the Experiences of Teenage Cryptocurrency Users on Reddit. Its subject is relevant to teenage cryptocurrency use, but the information established here is its title and focus; no particular finding from the paper can responsibly be attributed without accurately reviewing its results.
One Australian statistic also needs careful boundaries. The Australian Institute of Family Studies’ summary of the 2022 National Gambling Trends Study says 2.3% of coded open-ended responses mentioned betting with cryptocurrency or on cryptocurrency markets. Those responses came from Australian adults who regularly gambled on pokies or online sports or races. This is a share of coded responses—not the proportion of Australian teens who use crypto casinos, nor a measure of casino losses. A respondent’s comment, “Online gambling with crypto getting bigger,” is an individual perception, not a trend estimate.

How to respond if you are worried about a teen
Start by separating what you know from what you suspect. Seeing a gambling stream or promotion does not prove that a teen has gambled; a transaction or admission may warrant a calm, more specific conversation. Avoid treating cryptocurrency use by itself as proof of gambling.
