No chain-wide Xbox withdrawal was established in the October 2025 reports. Microsoft said Target and Walmart remained Xbox retail partners, and Target said it continued selling Xbox products. Those statements are historical, however—not confirmation of either retailer’s stock or plans on October 8, 2026.
What prompted the claim that Target and Walmart were pulling Xbox stock?
The October 2025 claim grew out of social posts and reports about individual stores with reduced Xbox displays, sparse shelves, or products that appeared unavailable. Other customers reported finding Xbox products for sale. A local store’s shelf or an unavailable web listing cannot establish that an entire retail chain has stopped carrying Xbox products.
Neither report cited a chain-wide delisting announcement. No independent statistic on the retailers’ Xbox sales, shelf space, or current inventory was established in the coverage.
What did Microsoft and Target say?
Microsoft’s statement about both retailers
In a statement reported by Windows Central on October 13, 2025, Microsoft said: “Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games.” That was Microsoft’s description of its retail relationships at the time, not a promise about later inventory or restocking. Target’s explanation for missing online listings
Target told ComicBook.com on October 13, 2025: “We continue to sell Xbox consoles, games and accessories, both in-stores and on Target.com. Select items are currently not showing up on Target.com because they are sold out, but once available again, consumers will see them on Target.com.” Target’s explanation concerned products missing from its website at that time; it does not confirm what is listed or available now. ComicBook.com’s report
Does this confirm Xbox is available at Target or Walmart now?
No. As of October 8, 2026, the 2025 statements do not establish current listings, store-by-store inventory, or future assortment and replenishment plans. Availability can differ by Xbox model, between online and in-store shopping, and by location. Check the specific model’s live retailer listing and local store inventory before making a trip; record the date you checked because stock can change.

Did Xbox’s 2026 price changes signal a retailer withdrawal?
No such connection was announced. Xbox Wire said on June 25, 2026, that global console price changes would take effect August 1, 2026: prices would rise by US$100 for 512 GB models and US$150 for 1 TB models, and the 2 TB model would be sunset. Microsoft attributed the changes to higher costs, saying console storage and memory costs had risen by more than 2.5 times, and forecast another doubling by fall 2027. Those figures and the forecast are Microsoft’s statements, not independent market measurements or evidence that Target or Walmart was withdrawing Xbox products. Xbox Wire’s June 25, 2026 update
Xbox Wire’s September 22, 2026 update discussed changes to Xbox studio organization and a planned October 6 internal town hall; it did not announce a Target or Walmart stock withdrawal. That update does not, by itself, establish either retailer’s inventory. Xbox Wire’s September 22, 2026 update

How to check whether a particular Xbox is in stock
- Choose the exact console model you want, such as an Xbox Series X or Series S. Do not treat one model’s listing as evidence about every Xbox console, game, or accessory.
- Search the retailer’s website for that model and check whether it is available for shipping, pickup, or neither.
- Set the store location you would actually use and check that store’s inventory separately. A product page or another location’s result may not reflect local stock.
- Check again close to purchase or before traveling. Online availability and store inventory can change, and a missing listing alone does not show that the retailer has discontinued the product.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
