Not on the evidence available. Virgin Plus currently advertises two BYOP offers, but the available official plan pages do not establish a directly comparable Fido data plan or current Koodo prices. That means the claim that both carriers have switched plans to match Fido cannot be verified from these offers alone. Plan availability and eligibility may vary by province, account and sales channel.
What the carriers currently show
| Carrier | Published details | What cannot be confirmed from the available page |
|---|---|---|
| Virgin Plus | Virgin Plus’s official plans page shows 20 GB for $40 per month and 60 GB for $50 per month. It describes these as offers for new activations when bringing your own phone; the price includes an Autopay credit, and hotspot access is listed. International texting is stated for the 60 GB offer. The page says the $40 offer ends October 13; it does not establish the year in the captured offer details, so check the live page before acting. | Province-specific availability, payment conditions and checkout fine print need confirmation. |
| Fido | Fido’s official plans page advertises 5G plans, talk-and-text plans starting at $25 per month after the Automatic Payments Discount, hotspot access and unlimited international texts. US/Mexico roaming is listed on select plans. | The page details captured do not give a data-plan price and allowance that can be compared directly with Virgin Plus’s offers. |
| Koodo | Koodo’s official BYOD page describes 5G speeds up to 1 Gbps, unlimited Canada-wide minutes, unlimited international SMS, a selectable perk, number transfer and eSIM activation. | Current plan prices were not available in the captured page details, so a matching price or data tier cannot be established. |
The Virgin Plus figures are advertised offer terms, not proof that Fido or Koodo has an equivalent plan. Compare the full terms on each carrier’s live page before deciding; a headline allowance or price does not establish equivalent eligibility or benefits.
What “matching Fido” would need to mean
A genuine match requires comparable plans and conditions, not just similar monthly prices. Check these details side by side:
- Price: Compare the amount after Autopay or Automatic Payments discounts, and check whether the price is temporary or changes after an offer period.
- Data and network: Compare the included data allowance and stated speed or network access.
- Extras: Check hotspot, international texting, roaming destinations and included perks. For Fido, roaming is listed only on select plans; Virgin Plus lists international texting for the 60 GB offer.
- Eligibility: Confirm whether the offer applies to new activations, existing customers, BYOP customers, and your province and purchase channel.
- Switching consequences: Check any device-financing or Tab balance, number-transfer requirements and whether existing add-ons will be removed.
Until Fido’s and Koodo’s current data-plan prices and allowances are confirmed alongside the Virgin Plus offer terms, there is no reliable basis to name a matching plan or a price winner.

How to check your Koodo switch options
- Sign in to Koodo Self Serve and open the rate-plan change option. Koodo says: “Your Self Serve account will show you all the rate plans you can switch to.”
- Review the plans shown for your account. Koodo notes that promotional options can have eligibility criteria and depend on your profile and current offers.
- Before confirming, check whether a Tab balance affects your ability to change plans and whether existing data add-ons will fall off.
- After you submit a change, Koodo says it usually takes effect right away, though it may take up to 15 minutes.
A plan shown to another customer—or on a public page—is not necessarily available to your account.

Virgin Plus’s price-change FAQ describes a particular case: members notified of a price change on a month-to-month BYOP agreement may change to any in-market BYOP plan, with a change or cancellation window tied to the June bill date. That notice-specific provision is not a universal switching rule for all Virgin Plus members.
