The announcement frames USDG as a potential “default dollar” for Arbitrum decentralized finance (DeFi), but that is the network’s stated ambition—not evidence that applications have already adopted it broadly.
What Arbitrum’s Global Dollar Network membership means
Global Dollar Network announced that Arbitrum had joined as a Network partner. The group’s stated goal is to support USDG’s use throughout Arbitrum’s DeFi ecosystem. Membership is a partnership announcement; by itself, it does not show that every Arbitrum application supports USDG or that users are already transacting with it at scale.
The announcement says USDG is natively issued on Arbitrum One. That is distinct from claiming that USDG is available in every wallet, exchange, lending market, or other application on the chain. Users should check support with the specific service they intend to use.
What USDG is and who issues it
USDG is a US dollar-backed stablecoin. Paxos introduced it in November 2024 as issued by Paxos Digital Singapore, which Paxos described as regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The 2026 network announcement also names Paxos Issuance Europe for the European Union. These are issuer and network descriptions; the announcement is not an independent verification of regulatory status.

Global Dollar Network says USDG can be redeemed through Paxos one-to-one for US dollars, that reserves are held in cash and cash equivalents in segregated accounts, and that monthly reserve reports are published. Those details are claims in the network’s announcement, not independently checked here. A stablecoin’s dollar target does not mean it is a bank deposit or that every holder has the same redemption access; users should review the issuer’s terms and eligibility rules.

- Derivatives collateral: The network identifies USDG as a potential asset to support collateral requirements in derivatives products.
- Institutional settlement: The announcement also points to USDG for settlement activity involving institutions.
These are intended use cases, not measured adoption results. The announcement does not establish which applications have integrated USDG, how much liquidity is available on Arbitrum, or whether any use case is producing a particular return. It also does not say that holding USDG automatically earns yield.
What the reported circulation and partner figures show
In its October 5, 2026 announcement, Global Dollar Network reported more than 150 partners and over $3 billion of USDG in circulation. These are figures reported by the network, not independently audited figures established by the announcement.

The network had made a separate milestone statement on July 21, 2026, also reporting more than 150 partners and over $3 billion in circulation, alongside tens of millions of dollars in reward payouts. That earlier statement is a distinct report; it should not be combined with the October figures or treated as independent confirmation.
What the ArbitrumDAO funding proposal asks for
On October 6, 2026, Entropy posted an ArbitrumDAO forum proposal titled “Adopting USDG as a Core Strategic Initiative for the ArbitrumDAO.” It calls for coordinated support for USDG adoption and requests an additional 100 million ARB for the DRIP budget.

The forum post is a proposal, not proof that the DAO approved the plan or allocated the requested ARB. Readers should distinguish the network’s October 5 partnership announcement from the separate governance process and its outcome.

At the network’s November 2024 launch, Paxos named Anchorage Digital, Bullish, Galaxy Digital, Kraken, Nuvei, Paxos, and Robinhood among its founding partners. The launch announcement described the initial phase as invite-only for qualifying participants. That was a historical description and does not establish the network’s current admission rules.
