Which APSC JAA recruitment did the headline refer to?
Scroll.in published the headline on January 9, 2025, the closing date for APSC Advertisement No. 24/2024. The recruitment was for Junior Administrative Assistant posts under the establishment of the Assam Public Service Commission. It advertised 14 vacancies. Scroll.in’s report and the APSC advertisement identify the recruitment and its dates.
The application window ran from December 20, 2024, through January 9, 2025. The advertisement gave applicants until January 11, 2025, to pay the processing fee. It listed no application fee; the CSC-SPV processing charge plus tax came to Rs. 47.20. These amounts and dates applied to this 2024 notice only.
Who was eligible under Advertisement No. 24/2024?
The notice required applicants to have a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognized university, plus a computer-proficiency diploma or certificate of at least six months from a government-recognized institute. It also required Assam Employment Exchange registration or a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purposes as residency proof.

The stated age range was 21 to 40 years as of January 1, 2024, with relaxations for specified categories. The advertisement sets out the category-specific rules and required supporting documents; applicants would have needed to consult it for those details.
What selection process did the notice describe?
- OMR screening test: General Studies topics included current affairs; Assam and Indian history and geography; economy and polity; numerical ability; mental ability; and Assam literature and culture.
- Conventional written test: General English; General Assamese or Alternative English; and precis writing, drafting, and general knowledge.
- Computer practical test and interview: The notice described both as the final phase.
The final merit list was to be prepared from performance in Phases II and III, rather than the initial screening test alone.

The January 2025 application window is over, and the available information does not establish whether APSC has opened a new JAA recruitment since then. Do not rely on the expired advertisement or assume its application form is still available. For a future opening, confirm the latest notice and application details with APSC.
To distinguish a new recruitment from this one—or from older, separate Junior Administrative Assistant recruitments—check the issuing authority, post name, advertisement number, closing date, fee-payment deadline, eligibility reference date, and official application portal. The Government of Assam archive includes a distinct Janata Bhawan recruitment advertised in 2020, which should not be confused with APSC Advertisement No. 24/2024.
