Apple’s Black Friday promotion is usually not a conventional price sale. Instead, Apple offers an Apple Gift Card with selected product purchases. The latest confirmed U.S. event ran from November 28 through December 1, 2025, and offered up to $250 in promotional gift cards. Apple’s 2026 event terms, dates, eligible models, and gift-card amounts had not been announced in the sources reviewed as of August 18, 2026.
That distinction matters: a $250 Apple Gift Card is future-use store credit, not automatically $250 off the Mac, iPhone, or iPad you buy. Apple’s offer can be worthwhile if you already expect to make another Apple purchase, but major retailers often provide a larger immediate discount.

In the confirmed 2025 U.S. event, customers who bought selected Apple products received an Apple Gift Card whose value depended on the exact model. Reports identified a maximum value of $250.

The promotion covered selected products in categories including:
- iPhone
- iPad
- Mac
- Apple Watch
- Apple TV
- HomePod
- AirPods
- Beats headphones and speakers
- Apple Pencil Pro
- Select Magic Keyboards for iPad
Not every product in those categories qualified. For example, 2025 reporting identified selected iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e purchases as eligible for up to $75, while selected MacBook Pro configurations with M4 Pro or M4 Max chips received up to $250. Other values varied by model.
For the model-by-model answer, use Apple’s official event terms when they are published or archived. Do not assume that a similar-looking model, refurbished unit, accessory, or newer generation qualifies simply because another product in the same category does.

Is Apple’s gift card an instant discount?
No. The normal sequence is:
- You purchase an eligible product during the promotional period.
- Apple issues the promotional Apple Gift Card.
- You redeem that card on a later eligible Apple purchase.
Calling the promotion “$250 off” is therefore misleading unless Apple’s live terms specifically say that the value is applied immediately. The advertised amount is the card’s nominal value, not necessarily your immediate checkout discount.
The card is worth close to face value if you already plan to buy Apple hardware, accessories, apps, media, or services. Its practical value is lower if you would not otherwise spend the money, forget to redeem it, encounter restrictions, or buy something unnecessary just to use the balance.

Think of the offer as store credit with conditions, not cash back.
Where can the promotional gift card be used?
In the United States, Apple Gift Cards can generally be used for Apple hardware and accessories purchased through Apple retail stores, Apple.com, and the Apple Store app. Apple’s terms also allow eligible uses for App Store purchases, media, and services such as Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Apple One, iCloud+, and Apple Books, subject to the applicable account and regional terms.

Important restrictions
- A U.S.-purchased card is generally restricted to use in the United States.
- You generally cannot redeem it for cash, except where required by law.
- You generally cannot use it to buy another Apple Gift Card.
- A lost or stolen card may not be replaceable without sufficient verification.
- A promotional card may have narrower terms than a standard Apple Gift Card.
If the balance does not cover a purchase, another payment method may be used when Apple permits it. Check the current terms before relying on a particular combination of payment methods.
When is the card delivered?
Coverage of the 2025 event reported electronic delivery, typically by email, after the qualifying purchase. The exact timing can depend on whether the order is shipped, collected from a store, fulfilled in separate shipments, or processed through a different sales channel. Do not assume that the card arrives immediately unless the live event terms say so.
If you do not see the card:
- Check the email address used at checkout and search for “Apple Gift Card” and “Apple Store.”
- Check spam, junk, and promotions folders.
- Review your Apple Account balance in case the value was associated automatically.
- Confirm that the exact model you purchased was eligible.
- Contact Apple Store support with your order number if the promotion was advertised but the card was not issued.
Can you use the gift card on the same transaction?
Do not assume that the promotional value can reduce the price of the qualifying product at checkout. The promotion is generally structured around a future purchase, and the gift card may appear as a separate promotional item in the order summary.

The precise accounting treatment, including whether a card can be used elsewhere in a split order, must come from the current event terms. Customer discussions can reveal confusion about invoices and returns, but they are not a substitute for Apple’s official conditions.
What happens if you return the qualifying product?
Returns are one of the most important reasons to read the event-specific terms before spending the card. Apple may require the promotional card to be returned or disabled, reduce the refund by the card’s value, or apply a different formula if the card has already been redeemed. The result can also depend on whether you return part of a multi-item order, whether the order shipped in parts, and whether the product was customized or engraved.
Do not spend the promotional balance until you are certain you will keep the qualifying product. Apple’s U.S. retail sales policy and general retail policy should be read alongside the live Shopping Event terms.

Which purchases may be excluded?
Eligibility is model-specific and may exclude or treat differently:
- Refurbished, open-box, clearance, or discontinued products
- Carrier-connected purchases
- Configure-to-order models
- Products bought through education, military, corporate, employee, or other special storefronts
- Accessories not expressly listed in the terms
- Orders above a stated per-customer or per-order limit
Do not assume that the event stacks with education pricing, veterans or military pricing, the Corporate Employee Purchase Program, Apple Card benefits, trade-in credits, carrier financing, or coupon codes. Compare each benefit separately and follow the live promotion’s exclusions.
For example, a special-program discount may produce a larger guaranteed saving than a gift card, even if the gift card has a higher advertised face value.

Apple versus major retailers
Apple is convenient, but it is not automatically the cheapest place to buy an Apple product. Compare the same model, storage capacity, processor, memory, connectivity, color where relevant, and condition.

Retailer and carrier promotions can look larger than Apple’s offer but may involve an older generation, a lower specification, a membership, a trade-in, a qualifying wireless plan, or credits spread over several years.

Use this formula:
Effective Apple cost = Apple purchase price − realistic value of the gift card
Then compare it with the price of the identical configuration elsewhere. “Realistic value” means the amount you genuinely expect to use on purchases you would have made anyway.

If another retailer sells the same configuration for $1,799 in cash, the retailer may still be the better deal because it saves $200 immediately and does not require a second Apple purchase.

Product-by-product buying guidance
iPhone
Apple’s 2025 reported benefit for selected iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e purchases was up to $75. Compare that with unlocked retailer pricing and carrier offers. Carrier deals may be much larger, but often require an eligible trade-in, plan, installment agreement, or bill credits over time. Apple is usually the cleaner choice for buyers who want an unlocked phone and direct Apple support.
Mac
The reported maximum gift card in 2025 applied to selected Macs, including certain MacBook Pro configurations with M4 Pro or M4 Max. Mac discounts vary substantially by chip, memory, storage, and generation. A retailer’s lower price may refer to a different configuration, so compare specifications line by line.
iPad
Retailers frequently discount iPads directly, particularly previous-generation models. Apple may be preferable if you need a specific configuration, want engraving, or will use the card for accessories or services you already planned to purchase.
Apple Watch
Check whether the offer applies to the exact size, material, connectivity option, and generation. Retailer discounts can be stronger on outgoing models.
AirPods and Beats
These products are commonly sold below Apple’s regular price by major retailers. A smaller Apple Gift Card may be less valuable than an immediate cash reduction unless you already have a planned Apple purchase.
Apple TV, HomePod, and accessories
Eligibility can be narrow, especially for accessories. Verify the exact product in the event terms rather than relying on the category name.
Who should buy from Apple?
Apple’s promotion is a good fit when you:
- Already intend to buy another Apple product or service.
- Need a configuration that retailers do not stock.
- Value engraving, Apple Store pickup, direct support, or Apple’s trade-in process.
- Prefer an unlocked iPhone without a long carrier-credit commitment.
- Find Apple’s price close to the best like-for-like retailer price.
It is a poor fit when you:
- Want the lowest immediate cash price.
- Are buying an older generation that retailers are clearing out.
- Have no realistic use for Apple credit.
- Would buy an unnecessary product just to spend the card.
- Can receive a larger education, military, corporate, trade-in, or carrier discount.
Bottom-line buying checklist
- Confirm the current event dates and country.
- Verify the exact model and configuration in Apple’s official terms.
- Record Apple’s regular price and promotional card value separately.
- Compare the identical configuration at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, Target, and relevant carriers.
- Check whether a competing offer requires a trade-in, membership, plan, or long-term bill credits.
- Decide whether you will use the entire Apple Gift Card balance on planned purchases.
- Read the return and redemption terms before spending the card.
Apple may limit quantities, restrict eligibility, or cancel or refund orders if it cannot supply a product. Stock and retailer prices can also change quickly during the holiday period.

The 2025 event cannot be treated as confirmation of the 2026 schedule or values. The next event should be judged only after Apple publishes its current U.S. terms at the Shopping Event page. Until then, any claimed 2026 dates, eligible models, or gift-card amounts are expectations rather than confirmed Apple terms.
