The $95 million in Apple’s Siri privacy settlement was the total fund—not a $95 million payout to each person. A valid claim could receive a pro rata share capped at $20 per eligible Siri device, with claims allowed for up to five devices. The deadline to file a claim was July 2, 2025, and has passed. The listed deadline to request reissuance of a settlement payment, September 3, 2026, has also passed.

What the $95 million Siri settlement covered

The case, Lopez v. Apple, concerned allegations that Siri activated unintentionally and captured conversations people intended to keep private or confidential. Apple denied liability; the case was resolved through a settlement, not a court finding that Apple unlawfully recorded users. The settlement fund was $95 million in total.

This is the privacy settlement, not a separate case about delays to Siri Apple Intelligence features. The latter has different allegations and proposed terms; do not use its payment figures or deadlines to assess a claim under Lopez. MacRumors reported on the separate Siri AI delay settlement on August 17, 2026.

How much could an eligible claimant receive?

The settlement notice described a payment from the net settlement amount, capped at $20 per eligible device, and allowed a claim for as many as five devices. That is a maximum cap, not a guaranteed payment: the net fund was to be reduced by administration costs, taxes, attorneys’ fees, litigation expenses and any approved representative awards, then allocated among valid claims. The final amount depended on the claims and devices approved. The notice does not establish a final average payment.

Figure What it means
$95 million Total settlement fund—not an individual award.
Up to $20 per device Maximum stated in the notice, subject to pro rata allocation from the net fund.
Up to five devices Maximum number a claimant could include; this did not guarantee the maximum payment.

These amounts and allocation terms are described in the settlement’s long-form notice.

Who was eligible?

The class covered individuals who lived in the United States or its territories and owned or purchased a covered Siri device during the class period, September 17, 2014, through December 31, 2024. They also had to have Siri enabled and experienced an unintended activation while having a conversation intended to be private or confidential. The notice’s claim form required claimants to affirm those facts under oath.

Covered devices listed in the notice were:

  • iPhone and iPad
  • Apple Watch
  • MacBook and iMac
  • HomePod
  • iPod touch
  • Apple TV

Receiving an email or postcard was not a prerequisite to filing during the claim period: people who believed they qualified could submit a claim without a Claim ID. That filing option is no longer open. The class definition and device list also appear in the preliminary approval order in Lopez v. Apple.

Can you still file a claim or get a payment reissued?

No new claim can be filed under the stated deadline. The deadline for a valid claim was July 2, 2025. The settlement administrator’s official website search listing gave September 3, 2026, as the deadline to request reissuance of a payment; that date has passed too. No reviewed official information establishes that either deadline has been extended or that reissuance remains available.

If you already filed a claim and have a question about its status or a missing or expired payment, contact the settlement administrator using the current contact details on the official settlement website. The available information does not establish a remedy after the reissuance deadline, so contact the administrator rather than assuming a payment can still be recovered.
