No—the promotion is not coming back this week. Apple’s 2026 U.S. Back to School offer launched on July 16 and is scheduled to end on August 27, 2026. As of August 18, it is already live and offers up to a $150 Apple Gift Card with eligible MacBook and iPad purchases.
The offer is available through Apple’s U.S. Education Store, participating Apple Stores, and Apple’s phone-order channel. It is not a cash discount, and not every product sold through Apple’s Education Store qualifies.

The reward is an Apple Gift Card issued as a promotional product at checkout. It is intended for a later eligible Apple purchase, so it should not be described as $100 or $150 taken off the device’s price immediately. The gift card is most valuable if you expect to buy Apple hardware, accessories, software, or services later.

Apple’s terms and the gift card’s separate conditions apply. Apple also distinguishes the promotional gift card from Apple Card: the former is future purchase credit, while Apple Card is a credit product. Apple Card Monthly Installments, where available, are subject to approval and credit limits.
Which products qualify—and which do not
The U.S. promotion lists four eligible categories: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. Other products may still receive education pricing without qualifying for the limited-time gift card.
- Not listed as gift-card eligible: regular iPad, iPad mini, Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio, MacBook Neo, iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, and accessories.
- Important distinction: appearing in Apple’s Education Store does not automatically make a product eligible for the Back to School reward.

These are starting prices, not universal prices. Storage, processor, memory, cellular connectivity, configuration, tax, and inventory can change the amount you pay. For an eligible purchase, think of the calculation this way: price paid today versus future Apple Gift Card value. The gift card only has its full advertised value if you will actually use it.
Who can use the offer?
The promotion is titled Apple’s College Student Offer, and eligibility is governed by Apple’s official U.S. terms—not by a blanket assumption that every student, parent, teacher, or education worker qualifies.
Apple defines qualifying purchasers and any verification requirements in its terms and conditions. Buyers should confirm that they qualify before ordering, especially when purchasing on behalf of another person. Apple says it may seek return of the promotional product or reimbursement if it determines that a participant was not qualified.

Do not assume that a parent can automatically claim the offer for a child, that every K–12 educator qualifies, or that a recent graduate is covered. Check Apple’s definitions for the particular transaction.

- Start at Apple’s U.S. Education Store, rather than assuming a standard consumer-store cart will qualify.
- Select a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, or iPad Pro that meets the promotion’s terms.
- Confirm the education price and check that the promotional Apple Gift Card appears at the product or cart stage.
- Before paying, verify the order includes both the eligible device and the promotional item.
- Save the order confirmation and any relevant checkout details.
- Complete the qualifying purchase by August 27, 2026.
Apple identifies the Education Store, participating brick-and-mortar Apple Stores, and its phone-order channel at 1-800-MY-APPLE as qualifying channels. The purchase and delivery must be within the same qualifying country. Apple’s terms also state that orders placed during the promotion period may still qualify if they ship after the listed end date.
If the gift card does not appear
A missing promotional item can have several explanations:

- The product is not one of the four eligible categories.
- You are not shopping through the education storefront.
- The order is outside the July 16–August 27 promotion window.
- The selected configuration or transaction is excluded by the terms.
- You are using a non-qualifying sales channel.
- The cart or page has not refreshed correctly.
Reopen the U.S. Education Store, reselect an eligible model, and check the offer at both the product and cart stages. If it is still missing, contact Apple Store support before completing the order. Keep screenshots and the order number if the promotional item is absent. Do not assume Apple will add the gift card manually after purchase.
If you later return or exchange the device, read the return provisions in Apple’s terms. Do not assume you can keep the promotional gift card after returning the eligible product.
Should you buy now or compare first?
Buying now makes sense if:
- You already need an eligible MacBook or iPad before August 27.
- You have confirmed that Apple’s education price is competitive for the exact configuration.
- You expect to spend the full $100 or $150 gift-card value at Apple later.
- The desired configuration is in stock and delivery timing matters.
- Apple’s education support, engraving, financing options, or service choices are important to you.
Compare other sellers first if:
- You want the lowest immediate cash price.
- A retailer offers a larger discount, cashback, store credit, extended returns, or a bundled accessory on the identical model.
- You will not shop at Apple again and may leave the gift card unused.
- You want an iPad, iPad mini, Mac mini, iMac, MacBook Neo, or an accessory that is not listed as eligible.
- You are considering an older model that may be discounted elsewhere.
Compare like for like: processor, memory, storage, screen size, cellular connectivity, warranty, return policy, tax treatment, and the value of any retailer rewards. A $100 gift card is not automatically better than a $100 immediate discount, particularly for someone with a strict cash budget.

The U.S. offer is not the international offer
Apple changes its Back to School reward by country. Coverage of international 2026 promotions has described products such as AirPods 4, Apple Pencil Pro, or a pack of AirTags in some markets. Those rewards do not describe Apple’s U.S. promotion.
For U.S. shoppers, the published 2026 terms specify Apple Gift Cards: $100 with eligible MacBook Air, iPad Air, or iPad Pro purchases, and $150 with an eligible MacBook Pro purchase. Do not rely on an article or social post about another country—or an older U.S. promotion—to determine what you will receive.
Verdict
There is no reason to wait for a launch this week: Apple’s U.S. Back to School promotion is already active. The relevant deadline is August 27, 2026.
