Apple’s 2025 annual shareholder meeting was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time. It was a virtual-only meeting at www.virtualshareholdermeeting.com/AAPL2025, not a product event or earnings call. The meeting is now historical; Apple’s subsequent annual meeting took place on February 24, 2026.

Confirmed date and format

Apple’s definitive proxy statement, filed January 10, 2025, set the annual meeting for February 25, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple’s subsequent Form 8-K confirmed that the meeting occurred on that date. The proxy materials covered Apple’s fiscal year ended September 28, 2024.

The meeting was online only. Access was provided through www.virtualshareholdermeeting.com/AAPL2025; it was not an unrestricted public livestream.

Who was entitled to vote

The record date was January 2, 2025. Shareholders of record at the close of business that day were entitled to vote. Buying Apple shares after that date did not create voting eligibility for this meeting.

Most individual investors held shares through a broker or another intermediary in “street name.” Those beneficial owners generally had to follow their broker’s voting instructions. Directly registered holders dealt with Apple’s transfer agent, Computershare. A control number from the notice, voting-instruction form, or proxy card was required to attend, vote, or submit questions online.

How voting and attendance worked

  1. Before the meeting online: Vote through ProxyVote with the control number supplied in the voting materials.
  2. During the virtual meeting: Sign in to the meeting website with the required control number and vote online.
  3. By telephone: Use the telephone number provided with the proxy materials.
  4. By mail: Return the proxy card or voting-instruction form.

Apple’s proxy statement said valid proxies and advance questions had to be submitted by 8:59 p.m. Pacific Time on February 24, 2025. The webcast opened approximately 15 minutes before the start time. Availability of online voting could depend on procedures set by a bank, broker, or other organization holding the shares.

For broker-held shares, uninstructed shares could generally be voted on routine matters, while broker non-votes could occur on non-routine matters. Apple identified auditor ratification as routine and the director, compensation, and shareholder proposals as non-routine. A broker non-vote is not the same as a vote against a proposal.

What shareholders voted on

There were seven proposals: three management items and four shareholder proposals.

Proposal Subject Final result
1 Election of eight directors: Wanda Austin, Tim Cook, Alex Gorsky, Andrea Jung, Art Levinson, Monica Lozano, Ron Sugar and Sue Wagner All eight elected
2 Ratification of Ernst & Young LLP as Apple’s independent registered public accounting firm Approved
3 Advisory approval of executive compensation Approved; advisory, not binding
4 Report on ethical artificial-intelligence data acquisition and usage Not approved
5 Report on the costs and benefits of child-sexual-abuse-material-identifying software and user privacy Not approved
6 Proposal asking Apple to cease its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts Not approved
7 Report on charitable giving Not approved

The complete vote tables are in Apple’s February 25, 2025 Form 8-K.

Notable final vote totals

  • Tim Cook received 8,970,310,928 votes for, 153,141,693 against and 17,952,887 abstentions, excluding broker non-votes.
  • The proposal to cease Apple’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts received 210,451,697 votes for and 8,843,175,086 against.
  • The ethical-AI reporting proposal received 1,041,899,819 votes for and 7,963,197,675 against.

These counts show the recorded outcomes; they do not, by themselves, establish why shareholders voted as they did.

Questions, recording and technical issues

Shareholders could submit questions in advance through ProxyVote until the February 24 deadline. Apple’s proxy statement said it could edit profanity or inappropriate language, exclude questions unrelated to meeting matters or Apple’s business, and group substantially similar questions. Recording the meeting, including audio or video recording, was not allowed.

The proxy also said that if technical difficulties affected the meeting, an announcement was expected on the virtual-meeting site and updated information would be posted on Apple’s investor-relations website. Attendance was subject to any capacity limits set by the platform provider.

How this date should be read now

“February 25” was an upcoming date only before the 2025 meeting. After the meeting, the accurate wording is that Apple’s annual shareholder meeting was held on February 25, 2025. Apple’s investor-relations FAQ identifies February 24, 2026 as the date of the subsequent annual meeting; that is a separate event. See Apple’s investor-relations FAQ.
