Expired deal: Amazon’s $277.78 price was a historical promotion reported on May 9, 2025. It applied only to the pink, 128GB, Wi‑Fi iPad with Apple’s A16 chip. MacRumors reported it as a new record low for that configuration; its update said the price later rose to $299. This is not a currently verifiable August 2026 offer.
What the $277.78 iPad deal included
The promotion covered Apple’s base iPad, which Apple now identifies on its specifications page as the iPad 11-inch (A16). “11th-generation iPad” remains common editorial shorthand for the model.
| Detail | Historical offer |

| Later status | The $277.78 price expired; MacRumors reported $299 afterward |
MacRumors called $277.78 a new record low and said it beat the prior low by approximately $10. That claim applies to the tracked 128GB pink Wi‑Fi configuration at that time—not every color, retailer, cellular model, refurbished listing, or future promotion.

How it differs from the 10th-generation iPad
MacRumors described the exterior design and overall form factor as substantially carried over from the 10th-generation model. The important changes for buyers are the A16 processor and a higher 128GB starting capacity; the previous base tier offered 64GB, alongside 256GB.

Where the base model makes sense
- Schoolwork, notes, email and web browsing
- Streaming video, reading and digital comics
- Casual games and video calls
- A shared household tablet or a first tablet for a child using parental controls
- Buyers who want current iPad software and USB‑C without paying iPad Air prices
At $277.78, 128GB was especially attractive because it leaves more room for downloaded shows, games, photos and school files than a 64GB entry model. Storage cannot be expanded with a memory card, however.
Important compromises before buying
Wi‑Fi is not cellular
The historical deal was Wi‑Fi only. Away from Wi‑Fi, the tablet needs a phone hotspot or another hotspot device. Cellular versions cost more and require a separate data plan.

The display is not an iPad Pro screen
This is a sharp 500-nit True Tone panel, but buyers seeking a laminated display, ProMotion, wider color capabilities or other premium-screen features should look higher in Apple’s range.
USB‑C is limited to USB 2.0
The connector is convenient, but Apple specifies transfer speeds up to 480Mb/s. Large video or photo transfers will be slower than on iPads with faster USB implementations.

Accessory support is specific
The listed Pencil compatibility is Apple Pencil USB‑C and first-generation Apple Pencil with an adapter. Do not assume Apple Pencil Pro support; verify compatibility for the exact model before buying an accessory.
128GB may not last every user
Large game libraries, offline video, extensive photo or video storage and a long ownership period can make 256GB a better choice. Apple does not provide expandable storage.

|---|---|---|
| 128GB Wi‑Fi | Lowest-cost everyday tablet | Limited storage and no direct cellular connection |

Apple’s U.S. buying page cited for this model lists 128GB Wi‑Fi at $449, 256GB at $549 and 512GB at $749; those are separate first-party reference prices, not evidence that the expired Amazon promotion remains available. See Apple’s buying page. Apple also lists a refurbished 128GB pink A16 model at its refurbished store.
How to evaluate a similar future listing
- Match the exact model, 128GB capacity, pink finish and Wi‑Fi connectivity.
- Confirm whether the seller is Amazon or a third-party marketplace seller.
- Check that the item is new rather than refurbished, renewed or open-box.
- Verify the final checkout total, including coupons, tax and delivery.
- Review the return policy, warranty coverage and estimated delivery date.
- Remember that “new low” may cover only one tracked configuration, and update the comparison if later price history shows a lower price.
Bottom line on the $277.78 price
The May 9, 2025 Amazon promotion was an excellent value for the 128GB pink Wi‑Fi A16 iPad, but it is expired. Treat $277.78 as a historical benchmark: a future price near that level would be compelling for everyday use, while a substantially higher price deserves comparison with the 256GB model, Apple’s refurbished stock and newer iPad Air alternatives.
