Florida shoppers can qualify for a sales-tax exemption on certain computers and accessories through August 20, 2026; the other nine state holidays have ended. This is a state-law tax break on selected products, not a nationwide Apple sale.
Which 2026 Apple tax holidays are still open?
Apple lists Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia for 2026. Only Florida’s holiday remains active on August 18. The dates and status below are from Apple’s 2026 tax-holiday page.

What Apple products qualified in each state?
Eligibility follows each state’s product definitions and limits, not the Apple brand. Apple’s summary of 2026 eligible products and restrictions is below; consult the relevant state’s rules for a purchase-specific determination.

| State | Apple-listed products and limits | Key restriction |
|---|---|---|
| Alabama | Macs and iPads; computer accessories, printers, storage media and non-recreational software. Exempt-item sales price capped at $1,173. | Local tax may still apply; accessories generally must be bought with a computer. |
| Arkansas | All Macs, iPads and iPhones, Apple Vision Pro, printers and selected accessories; no sales-price limit is listed for qualifying items. | Individual personal-use purchase required. |
| Florida | Macs, iPads, displays, keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, speakers and HomePods, headphones, AirPods, storage devices, printers, networking equipment and non-recreational software. Computers and computer accessories generally must cost $1,500 or less per item. | Personal, noncommercial use. Smartphones, cases and tablet covers, game devices and other listed categories are excluded. |
| Massachusetts | Most tangible personal-use retail items, including qualifying Apple products, at $2,500 or less per item. | If an individual item costs more than $2,500, its full price is taxable; separate qualifying items can exceed $2,500 in aggregate. |
| Missouri | Macs, iPads, displays, keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, storage, printers, scanners, hard drives, flash drives and qualifying software. Computers and accessories: $1,500 per item; non-recreational software: $350. | Price caps apply to the listed categories. |
| New Mexico | Macs, iPads, keyboards, mice, displays, speakers, cables, storage, printers and other computer hardware. Computers: $1,000; related hardware generally: $500. | Price caps apply to the listed categories. |
| South Carolina | Macs, iPads, Vision Pro, printers, software and certain accessories. | Some accessories, including displays, keyboards, mice and scanners, generally must be bought with a CPU. Apple’s summary limits AirPods, headphones, earbuds and flash drives to school use. |
| Tennessee | Macs, iPads, displays, keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, speakers and HomePods, and cables. | A computer and qualifying accessories must total $1,500 or less; accessories not sold with a CPU remain taxable. |
| Virginia | Cell-phone chargers and batteries priced at $60 or less. | Apple’s list does not make Macs, iPads, iPhones or Apple Watch broadly eligible. |
| West Virginia | iPad models priced at $500 or less. | Apple’s list does not make Macs broadly eligible. |
Arkansas is the only state whose Apple list explicitly includes all iPhone models. Florida’s state guidance specifically treats smartphones as taxable during its holiday. Product eligibility can also depend on how an accessory is sold, whether it is for personal use and whether it falls under a state’s statutory category.
What can Florida shoppers still buy tax-free?
Florida is the only immediate opportunity among Apple’s 10 listed states. Its holiday runs through August 20, 2026. The Florida Department of Revenue says qualifying personal computers and certain related accessories priced at $1,500 or less may be exempt when bought for noncommercial home or personal use. See the Florida Department of Revenue’s 2026 tax publication for the state’s full rules.

Apple’s list includes qualifying Macs, iPads, displays, keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, AirPods and other listed items. Do not assume every product in an Apple Store cart qualifies: Florida specifically excludes smartphones and cellular telephones, tablet cases and covers, computer bags, game systems and software, digital cameras, televisions, digital media receivers and furniture. Commercial purchases, rentals, repairs and purchases in certain theme-park, lodging or airport locations are also excluded under the state publication.
The $1,500 threshold is not a blanket exemption for every Apple product below that price. The item must fit an eligible category and satisfy the state’s conditions. Check the exact product and transaction against Florida’s rules before ordering.

What does “tax-free” mean—and how much might you save?
A holiday generally removes sales tax that would otherwise apply to an eligible purchase under that state’s rules; it does not mean Apple has discounted the product or that every tax disappears. The amount saved depends on the item’s price, applicable state and local tax rates, whether the item qualifies and how the state treats local taxes. There is no reliable nationwide savings percentage.
Local-tax treatment varies. Apple warns that local tax may still apply in Alabama. South Carolina’s Department of Revenue says its 2026 holiday removes state tax and local taxes collected by the department on eligible items. That difference is why shoppers should check the rule for their state and location rather than assume a tax holiday removes every charge. See South Carolina’s 2026 holiday notice.

- There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
- This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.
- Product may come in generic Box.
Can you order online?
Apple presents its tax-holiday offer for online and in-store purchases, but state law controls whether a transaction qualifies. Before placing an online order, check:
- The delivery or pickup location is in the state holding the holiday and satisfies that state’s rules.
- The purchase date falls within the holiday period.
- The product, price and any accessory bundle meet the state’s eligibility conditions.
- The purchase is for an allowed personal use, not a disqualified commercial transaction.
- The transaction is not an excluded rental, repair, resale or special-location purchase.
Apple says tax savings may appear only on the final receipt, not at checkout. Keep the order confirmation and final receipt, then check the final invoice. If the state’s rules indicate the purchase should be exempt but tax remains, contact Apple about the transaction; ask the state revenue department about legal eligibility. Apple’s general shopping terms also say its store is for end-user customers and that it may refuse or cancel suspected resale orders.

Can the tax exemption be combined with Apple’s other offers?
A state tax exemption is separate from Apple’s other offers. Apple’s tax-holiday page also advertises education savings on Macs and iPads, a $100–$150 gift card with qualifying education purchases, Apple Trade In credit, 3% Daily Cash at Apple with Apple Card, and interest-free Apple Card Monthly Installments subject to their terms. Eligibility and availability differ; these are not components of the tax holiday.
Compare the total cost rather than treating every offer as an automatic saving. A student may be able to use education pricing alongside an eligible tax exemption where the rules permit. Trade-in credit depends on the device and offer. Rewards and financing have their own terms, and financing does not make a purchase less expensive if it leads to debt. A tax exemption also does not guarantee the best price compared with a retailer discount or a refurbished device.
Should you buy now or wait?
If you are in Florida, considering an eligible personal-use product, and can complete a qualifying purchase by August 20, compare the likely tax saved with any discount you could get by waiting or buying elsewhere. For shoppers in the other nine states, the listed 2026 windows have passed. Do not assume another holiday will happen on the same dates next year; wait for an official state announcement and check its product rules before planning a purchase.
