Apple shares closed at $256.08 on September 22, 2025, near the $260.09 52-week high cited in that day’s report. Those figures describe a 2025 market move—not Apple’s price or record status today. The report linked the rebound to shifting views on tariffs, iPhone demand, production diversification and Apple’s AI strategy, but it did not establish that any single factor caused the rise.
What “returns to 2025 highs” means
The headline referred to a September 22, 2025 report, which said Apple (AAPL) closed at $256.08 after trading around $255 intraday. The same report placed the stock near a 52-week high of $260.09. These are historical figures reported by AppleInsider on September 22, 2025; they are not a current quote.
Apple says stock-price information on its investor site is delayed by 20 minutes. A dated report and a delayed quote cannot establish Apple’s price on October 7, 2026. Likewise, broad market records reported later do not show that Apple itself set a new high. The Associated Press report on October 6, 2026 said U.S. stocks reached records, including the Nasdaq Composite, but did not establish an Apple-specific price or rally.
Why investors were described as returning to Apple
AppleInsider framed the 2025 rebound as a change in investor sentiment after concerns about tariffs, skepticism about Apple’s AI efforts and broader economic conditions. It also pointed to Apple’s production-diversification plans and iPhone demand as reasons confidence might improve. These were the article’s interpretations of the market mood, not proof that those developments caused the share-price move.

A stock price reflects how buyers and sellers value a company at a particular time. A rebound near a prior high can indicate stronger sentiment, but it does not by itself establish why investors changed their views or whether the move will continue.
What Apple reported after the share-price story
On October 30, 2025, Apple announced results for the fiscal fourth quarter ended September 27—after the September 22 stock report. Apple reported revenue of $102.5 billion, up 8 percent year over year, and adjusted diluted earnings per share of $1.85, up 13 percent. The company also said iPhone revenue set a September-quarter record and Services revenue reached an all-time record. These later results provide business context, but they cannot explain a stock move reported more than a month earlier.

How to read the headline as an investor
- Check the date. The reported close and 52-week high belong to September 22, 2025, rather than October 2026.
- Separate a market explanation from a confirmed cause. The tariff, AI, demand and diversification factors were presented as explanations for sentiment, not as a demonstrated causal breakdown.
- Keep later results in sequence. Apple’s fiscal Q4 2025 results were announced October 30, so they are subsequent context, not evidence for what drove the earlier rally.
- Use an Apple-specific quote for a current price claim. A report about the overall market, including record-setting indexes, is not a substitute for a dated AAPL quote.
