It is available to eligible Apple Card Owners and Co-Owners who apply; it is not a general-purpose account anyone can open. Apple is a service provider, not a bank. The account has no fees or minimum balance requirement, but its APY is variable and should be checked in Wallet before you decide.
Who can open Apple Savings?
Apple says Apple Card Owners and Co-Owners may individually apply for a Savings account, subject to eligibility requirements. You need an Apple Card in Wallet on a supported iPhone or iPad to set it up. That does not mean every Apple Card user or every applicant will qualify, or that every Apple device supports setup. See Apple Support’s eligibility and setup guidance.
An existing supported device is enough; buying a new device is not a requirement if you already meet Apple’s conditions and have one.
Who provides the account, and is it FDIC-insured?
Apple identifies Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch as the Savings provider and says it is a Member FDIC institution. Apple itself says it is not a bank. Review the bank and deposit-insurance disclosures in the account terms so you understand which institution holds the deposit; the Wallet interface does not make Apple the deposit-taking bank. Apple’s account overview is available in its Savings support article.

How to open the account
- On a supported iPhone or iPad, open Wallet and select your Apple Card. If you are an eligible Owner or Co-Owner, follow the Savings application prompts.
- Complete the application and any identity-verification steps Apple requests. Approval is subject to eligibility.
- Review the account disclosures, including the provider, variable APY, and transfer terms, before accepting.
- After opening, check where future Daily Cash is directed and change the destination if you prefer another eligible option.

How money gets into Apple Savings
Daily Cash
When you open Savings, future Daily Cash is automatically directed there. You can change the destination for future Daily Cash, but Apple’s surfaced support guidance says it cannot be split between Savings and Apple Cash. Daily Cash timing follows transaction posting and the applicable Apple Card terms; opening Savings does not make a reward available before the underlying transaction posts.

Transfers from a bank account or Apple Cash
You can also add money from Apple Cash or a linked external bank account. For external transfers, Apple requires a personal checking, savings, or other deposit account held by the applicant at a financial institution based in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. Business and trust accounts do not meet the stated requirements. Apple explains the requirements and transfer issues at If you can’t transfer money to or from Savings using your external bank account.
Incoming money from a linked bank account can take a few days before it is available to withdraw, so don’t count on it as immediately accessible cash. Apple says withdrawals to external banks typically take one to three business days; the receiving bank’s posting and availability may differ. See Apple’s transfer guidance.

How to withdraw or spend the money
Apple Savings funds are not directly spendable through Apple Pay. To use the money, transfer it to Apple Cash or to a linked external bank account. A displayed current balance may include pending transactions or deposits; the available balance is the amount Apple identifies as immediately withdrawable. Allow for transfer processing rather than assuming a withdrawal will arrive instantly.
Apple Savings interest rate and how interest is paid
The APY is variable and can change before or after you open the account. Apple’s account display in Wallet is the place to check the current rate and its date; confirm it there before comparing or making a decision. A past rate, or a rate reported elsewhere, is not a reliable substitute for the live figure.

Apple Support says, “Your interest is compounded daily and credited to your Savings account monthly.” Compounding describes how interest is calculated over time; monthly crediting is when it is added to the account. Read the current account terms in Apple’s Savings support information.
Fees, minimums and practical trade-offs
Apple says the account has no fees and no minimum balance requirements. That does not eliminate the access trade-off: money must be transferred to Apple Cash or an external bank before you can spend it, and bank transfers take processing time.

Compare Apple Savings with another account using the same-day APY and these terms, rather than relying on a blanket claim that one account is best:
- Whether the APY is variable and any conditions attached to it.
- Eligibility rules and required relationships, including Apple Card ownership.
- Fees and minimum balance requirements.
- Deposit and withdrawal methods, timing, and access channels.
- The deposit-taking bank and its insurance disclosures.
- App or device requirements and the provider’s privacy practices.
What happens to Savings as Apple Card changes issuers?
Apple announced in January 2026 that Chase would become the new issuer of Apple Card, with further transition details to come as the transition date approached. That announcement still identifies Goldman Sachs Bank USA as the provider of Savings. It does not establish that Chase will provide Savings, give a Savings transfer date, or announce changed Savings terms. Treat the Apple Card issuer and the Savings deposit provider as separate roles unless Apple publishes a specific Savings update. See Apple’s issuer announcement.
What Apple says about Savings privacy
Apple’s privacy notice says information from the application, account, and device may be shared with Apple and Goldman Sachs for account creation, identity verification, and fraud prevention. The notice names categories including Apple Account contact details, device information, and account or device history related to payment cards. It also says Apple delivers and stores individual Savings transaction information in iCloud with end-to-end encryption. These statements describe the data and purposes in the notice; they should not be read as a blanket claim about every kind of financial data or every party involved. Read Apple’s Savings & Privacy notice.
