Apple announced MacBook Neo on March 4, 2026, with a US starting price of $599 and an A18 Pro chip. Apple’s battery figures are up to 16 hours of video streaming or up to 11 hours of wireless web—not a guarantee of a full day for every workload. Preorders opened on announcement day, and Apple confirmed availability online and at Apple Store locations starting March 11.
Price and availability
Apple announced a US starting price of $599, with a $499 education price, on March 4, 2026. Those are announced US prices, not a guarantee of current pricing or prices in other countries. Preorders began March 4, and Apple said availability would start March 11; its March 11 update confirmed MacBook Neo was available through Apple Store locations and online. Apple’s launch announcement and availability update provide those details.
How long does the battery last?
Apple rates MacBook Neo for up to 16 hours of video streaming and up to 11 hours of wireless web browsing. These are Apple’s test results, not independent measurements or a promise that every owner will get that runtime. Apple says actual battery life varies with use and configuration.
Apple’s test note specifies preproduction hardware, Wi-Fi browsing and video-streaming conditions, and display brightness set eight clicks from the bottom. Because those controlled conditions differ from many people’s routines, activities such as heavier multitasking or other demanding workloads should not be assumed to match the headline figures. See Apple’s technical specifications for the test note and qualification.

Ports, external display, and charging
The two USB-C ports are not identical. One supports USB 3 at up to 10Gb/s and DisplayPort; the other supports USB 2 at up to 480Mb/s. Apple also lists a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for one external display up to 4K resolution at 60Hz. When connecting a display or moving large files, use the USB-C port whose stated capabilities match the task.
The box includes a 1.5-metre USB-C charge cable, but not a power adapter. Apple specifies a minimum charging wattage of 20W, so a buyer who does not already have a suitable adapter should account for that separate purchase.

Design, camera, and software
Apple describes the enclosure as aluminum and offers four colors: silver, blush, citrus, and indigo. The laptop is fanless. Other listed features include a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones, dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio, a Magic Keyboard, and a Multi-Touch trackpad. It runs macOS Tahoe; Apple Intelligence availability can vary by region and language.
Apple also lists 60% recycled content for the product by mass. Its environmental note excludes packaging and in-box accessories from that calculation.

What the $599 announcement does—and does not—tell you
The announced entry price, memory and storage options, port capabilities, and Apple’s battery test figures give buyers concrete points to weigh against their needs. They do not, by themselves, establish whether Neo is a better value than a MacBook Air, a Windows laptop, or a Chromebook. That decision depends on current prices for comparable configurations, the software and workload involved, and whether 8GB of unified memory and the selected storage capacity suit the buyer.
Apple positions Neo for activities such as browsing, documents, streaming, photo editing, and using AI features across apps. Those are the company’s intended use cases, not independent test findings. Likewise, no independent battery measurement or performance comparison is established by Apple’s announcement and specification page.
