Apple and Chase announced the move on January 7, 2026, and estimate the transition will take approximately 24 months, subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Until then, current cardholders can keep using and paying their cards as usual; Apple says they do not need to reapply or take migration action now.
What does the move from Goldman Sachs to Chase mean for Apple Card users?
It changes the bank that issues Apple Card, not what current customers need to do today. Goldman Sachs will continue servicing Apple Card users until the transition is complete. Apple says customers can manage their accounts in the Wallet app or at card.apple.com and continue making payments as they do now. Once the transition is complete, open-account balances will be with Chase. Apple’s transition FAQ says the handover is expected in approximately 24 months from the January 7, 2026 announcement; that is an estimate, not a fixed completion date.
Do I need to apply for a new Apple Card or do anything to migrate?
No. Apple says existing users do not need to apply again, and no migration action is required at this time. Apple says it will share more information directly with cardholders as the transition approaches. There is no need to close an account, replace a card, or change how you pay based on the announcement alone.
What happens to my balance, payments, and account management?
Continue paying your balance through your existing process and manage the account in Wallet or at card.apple.com while Goldman Sachs remains the servicer. Apple says open-account balances will be with Chase after the transition is complete. The announcement does not provide a new payment schedule or require customers to make a special payment now.

These are statements about the transition period, not a guarantee that every feature will remain identical after Chase takes over. Apple says the card will continue to have no annual, late, or foreign transaction fees. That does not mean all purchases are interest-free: the FAQ lists a variable APR and says purchases outside Apple Card Monthly Installments accrue interest under the applicable terms.
What will happen to my Apple Card Savings account?
Apple says users will continue to have access to Savings during the transition, but has not yet detailed what happens after handover. Current Savings accounts are provided by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch, subject to eligibility. Apple has not said that those accounts will automatically transfer to Chase, so do not assume the Savings account and Apple Card will move together.

Who will service my account, and what happens to my credit report?
Goldman Sachs remains the Apple Card servicer until the transition is complete. Apple says credit reports will update to show Chase as the issuer after the transition. It has not specified the reporting timetable for an individual customer or promised a particular effect on credit scores; the issuer-name update alone does not establish that a score will rise or fall.
What has Apple said about privacy and account data?
Apple says its privacy and security commitment remains unchanged and that it is working with both banks on the data transition. That is Apple’s stated commitment; it is not a public description of every technical safeguard or data-handling detail involved in the handover.
