What does Apple Certified Refurbished include?
Apple describes its Certified Refurbished products as pre-owned. Its process includes functionality testing, replacement of defective modules identified during testing, cleaning and inspection, repackaging, and a final quality-assurance inspection. For refurbished iPhones, Apple’s product information says the device comes with a new battery and outer shell. That is a defined refurbishment process, not a claim that the phone was never owned or that every internal component is new. See Apple’s refurbished-store information.
Apple’s refurbished iPhone listing specifies a new white box, documentation, and a USB-C charge cable. It does not list a power adapter, so factor in a compatible USB-C adapter if you do not already have one. The Canadian listing also states a one-year limited warranty, a 15-day return period, and that AppleCare may be available subject to eligibility and regional terms. Confirm the terms on the exact listing and applicable AppleCare page before purchase.

How did Canadian availability differ?
At launch, the iPhone 15 Plus was initially unavailable in Canada, according to the May 2025 report. It later appeared in at least one Canadian Apple listing: a 128GB blue, unlocked iPhone 15 Plus was shown for C$859, reduced from C$999, a displayed saving of C$140. That is a dated listing snapshot, not a guaranteed August 2026 price or proof that the same configuration remains in stock. Availability varies by country, date, storage, and color. Is Apple refurbished safer than an ordinary used listing?
Apple’s route offers a more clearly specified refurbishment package and Apple-backed purchase terms. A used phone from a marketplace or other seller may cost less, but the meaning of labels such as “refurbished,” “renewed,” or “excellent condition” depends on that seller’s rules. Compare written policies rather than assuming the labels are equivalent.

How to check current stock and compare the real cost
- Open Apple’s U.S. refurbished iPhone store or Canadian refurbished iPhone store.
- Choose the model, then verify storage, color, displayed price, and carrier status on its specific product page. Do not assume every configuration is unlocked; confirm the listing.
- Check the warranty, return period, and AppleCare eligibility for your country. Apple’s coverage terms and prices can differ by region.
- Compare the total with a new iPhone 15 or newer model, including applicable promotions, taxes, and any charger you need. Confirm that the storage is sufficient and that the model supports your carrier and preferred eSIM setup.
- If the configuration is right, complete checkout promptly. Apple says refurbished supply is limited and availability is not guaranteed until it receives authorized payment. A listing visible while browsing may disappear before the order is secured.
The iPhone 15 generation may suit buyers who want its hardware at a lower price than a comparable new phone. For example, Apple’s Canadian iPhone 15 Plus listing describes an A16 Bionic chip, Dynamic Island, USB-C, a Super Retina XDR OLED display, a dual-camera system, and up to 26 hours of video playback. Whether that trade-off makes sense depends on the price gap and which features matter to you; check current Apple software-compatibility information if a specific newer feature is essential.
Apple’s Canadian listing also says engraving and gift wrap are unavailable for this refurbished item. Its white refurbished box is not the standard retail presentation, and the included cable is not a charger.
