Apono announced a $34 million Series B on November 18, 2025, led by U.S. Venture Partners (USVP). The company said the round brought its total funding to more than $54 million. It plans to invest in AI-powered access intelligence, policy automation, expansion in the U.S. and internationally, and growth in engineering and sales.
Who funded Apono’s Series B?
USVP led the round, with participation from Swisscom Ventures, Vertex Ventures, 33N Ventures, and existing investors. Apono said its client count had grown fourfold over the preceding year. The company’s announcement named Intel, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and monday.com as customers, with deployments across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

What does Apono sell?
Apono describes its product as cloud-native privileged access management (PAM), a category focused on controlling elevated access to sensitive systems. It sits within the broader identity-security landscape, but its central proposition is not simply creating or managing user accounts: it is granting limited, temporary permissions when a person or workload needs them.

The platform is designed for human users as well as machine and AI identities. Apono advertises more than 85 out-of-the-box integrations on its product site, including connections to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, databases, identity providers, DevOps and IT service-management tools, chat platforms, and incident-response products. The breadth of a particular deployment depends on the systems and workflows an organization connects.
How Zero Standing Privilege works
Zero Standing Privilege (ZSP) is Apono’s approach to reducing persistent administrative permissions. Instead of leaving broad access enabled indefinitely, the platform is designed to create narrowly scoped permissions when requested and revoke them when the task is finished. This combines Just-in-Time (JIT) access—granting access only when needed—with Just-Enough-Access (JEA)—limiting what the requester can do.

- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single Security Key C NFC secures 100 of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more.
- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
- TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
- Find existing permissions. AWS’s Apono documentation describes discovering privileges that already exist across cloud resources.
- Turn access needs into request flows. Organizations can convert discovered privileges into on-demand access workflows, with approvals configured for their policies.
- Request access to a specific resource. For example, a developer can request access to AWS services, buckets, or instances through Slack.
- Grant limited, temporary access. The workflow can provide time-bound access, including third-party access with multi-factor authentication, according to the AWS documentation.
- Revoke and audit. When work ends, access is intended to be removed. Audit records can show who received access, which resources they could reach, and why.
These are product capabilities described in Apono and AWS materials, not a guarantee that every organization’s configuration will eliminate all standing privileges. Results depend on which identities and resources are integrated, how policies and approval rules are set, and whether teams move existing access into the on-demand workflows.

Apono’s stated rationale is that AI agents add more identities and automated activity that need permissions, making access governance harder if credentials or broad privileges persist. Its platform is intended to apply time-limited, scoped access controls to AI identities alongside human and machine identities. The company said Series B proceeds would support AI-powered access intelligence and policy automation.

That describes the product direction and planned investment, not an independently measured security outcome. The funding announcement does not establish a quantified reduction in risk or prove that ZSP alone secures agentic operations. Buyers evaluating AI-agent controls should check which agent identities and workloads are supported, how requests are authenticated and approved, and whether access can be scoped and audited in their own environment.
Can Apono manage AWS and Kubernetes permissions?
Apono’s integrations and AWS materials describe cloud and Kubernetes coverage. For AWS, documented examples include privilege discovery, on-demand workflows, Slack-based requests, approvals, time-bound third-party access with MFA, and audit trails. The company also lists Kubernetes among the platform’s supported integration areas. The available materials do not specify feature-by-feature parity across every cloud provider or Kubernetes deployment, so confirm the required resources and controls for a particular environment before procurement.

What is the company’s growth plan?
Apono was founded in 2022 by CEO Rom Carmel and CTO Ofir Stein. The Series B follows its $15.5 million Series A, announced in September 2024. The company said it will use the new capital for AI-powered access intelligence, policy automation, U.S. and international go-to-market expansion, and scaling its engineering and sales teams.
