The Apcsilmic Dot 1 was a tiny, fanless Windows-on-ARM desktop announced in February 2022 and sold from early April that year. Its advertised entry price was $229 for a Wi-Fi model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Apcsilmic’s product page currently lists the Dot 1 at $249, so $229 is a historical launch price, not the current listed price. The machine’s value depends on whether its quiet, compact ARM design suits your workload; it is not a general-purpose performance PC.
What was the Apcsilmic Dot 1?
The Dot 1 is a Windows mini PC built around Qualcomm’s SC7180, marketed as the original Snapdragon 7c compute platform. Apcsilmic announced it on February 22, 2022, and sales or shipping began in early April. The 2022 launch coverage described it as a compact, low-power alternative for basic desktop use and Windows-on-ARM testing—not a workstation replacement. Apcsilmic’s launch announcement called it the smallest ARM-based mini PC, a company claim rather than an independently established market-wide ranking.
The Snapdragon 7c has an eight-core Kryo 468 CPU design running up to 2.4GHz and Adreno 618 graphics, according to technical coverage and Qualcomm’s product brief. Qualcomm lists Windows support for the platform, but that does not guarantee every Windows program, driver or peripheral will work well on this particular computer.
What did the $229 launch model include?
The best-supported entry-level specification in launch coverage was 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and Wi-Fi, without 4G LTE, for $229 in 2022. There is a historical discrepancy: one contemporary report listed 32GB of flash storage, while Apcsilmic and several other reports gave 64GB. The 64GB figure is better supported, but buyers should not mistake every surviving listing or article for an identical configuration. Thurrott’s April 2022 coverage reported the $229 starting price and core specifications.

The 6GB+128GB option in launch-era reporting is not shown in that current lineup, so its present availability is not established. Check the selected SKU and checkout price rather than assuming historical configurations remain on sale.

How much does it cost now, and what does the price include?
Apcsilmic’s product page lists the Dot 1 at $249. The same page says customs duties and taxes are included, worldwide shipping is free, orders ship within two business days and delivery is estimated at 10–14 days after shipment. Those are vendor-stated terms and estimates, not a guarantee of stock or delivery timing. Shipping, taxes and availability can change; confirm the checkout total and terms for your location on the official product page.
The price alone does not establish good value. A buyer comparing it with an Intel- or AMD-based mini PC should weigh the Dot 1’s fanless size and optional cellular connectivity against its entry-level performance, small base storage and ARM software compatibility.
What hardware, ports and connectivity does it offer?
Size and cooling
The chassis measures 111 × 108 × 20 mm, according to Apcsilmic. It is fanless and includes a screen mount for placing it behind a monitor or TV. Silent operation and compact placement are useful in a kiosk, signage installation or quiet room, but the low-power design is not a sign of workstation-class performance.

Displays and ports
The Dot 1 has two HDMI ports, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, a 3.5mm microphone input and a 3.5mm stereo audio output. The HDMI ports are not equivalent: Apcsilmic says HDMI 1 supports 1080p video only, while HDMI 2 supports up to 2K audio and video. Dual-monitor buyers should account for that limit rather than assume both outputs provide the same resolution and audio features.
Wireless specifications include dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. The system also supports microSD and USB-based storage expansion. The 4G SIM option is available only on selected configurations; “4G support” does not mean every Dot 1 includes a modem or works with every carrier. Confirm the modem, supported LTE bands, antenna and carrier compatibility before paying extra.

What is in the box?
Apcsilmic lists the mini PC, power cord, HDMI cable, Wi-Fi antenna, user manual and screen mount. A 4G antenna is listed for supported cellular models. The power-plug option depends on region.

What does Windows on ARM mean for software?
The Dot 1 runs Windows 11 on an ARM processor rather than an Intel or AMD x86 processor. ARM64-native applications are generally the best fit. Some traditional x86 and x64 Windows applications can run through Windows compatibility and emulation layers, but an application that launches may still run more slowly than a native ARM version. Compatibility also depends on more than the main program: installers, plug-ins, updaters and device drivers can behave differently.
- Check for ARM64 versions of essential applications when available.
- Verify drivers and utilities for printers, VPNs, security software, peripherals and hardware management.
- Confirm that games do not depend on unsupported anti-cheat, DRM or kernel-level components.
- Test specialized development tools, virtualization software and x86-dependent toolchains before relying on the system.
Compatibility is only half the issue: the Snapdragon 7c is an entry-level platform, so even software that runs may feel constrained by its CPU and graphics performance. Apcsilmic’s claim that the Dot 1 can run “most games” should be treated as marketing, not evidence that it is suitable for modern gaming.
What is it suited for—and what is it not?
The Dot 1 can make sense when compact dimensions, silence, low-power operation or optional cellular connectivity matter more than speed. Plausible uses include web and email, light office work, remote desktop, digital signage, basic media streaming, thin-client deployments and testing ARM64 software. Those are workload-fit judgments based on its hardware, not claims of independent performance testing.

Look elsewhere for modern AAA gaming, video editing, 3D rendering, large software builds, heavy multitasking or professional creative work. It is also a poor choice when an essential application depends on a specialized x86 driver or when you need broad peripheral compatibility and substantial internal storage.
Was Windows included and activated?
Launch-period documentation changed. Early product information and coverage said Windows 11 was preinstalled but not licensed. Windows Central later updated its April 2022 story after Apcsilmic changed its FAQ to say Windows 11 Pro was included and activated. Apcsilmic’s current FAQ likewise says Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled and activated. The safest reading is that the vendor’s documentation evolved; verify activation status on the exact listing and unit you are buying, especially when reading older reports. - Confirm the exact variant: Check RAM, internal storage and whether LTE hardware is included, not merely supported.
- Check cellular requirements: Match the modem’s supported LTE bands and carrier requirements, and account for a SIM and data-plan cost if using mobile connectivity.
- Verify Windows activation: Confirm that the specific SKU is sold with activated Windows 11 Pro.
- Check your applications and peripherals: Look for ARM64 support and compatible drivers for required software, printers, VPNs, security tools and other devices.
- Plan for storage: The 64GB base model is limited once Windows, updates and applications take space. microSD or USB storage can extend capacity, but removable storage does not behave like a fast internal drive.
- Check monitor needs: Remember that the manufacturer specifies different capabilities for the two HDMI outputs.
- Review the purchase terms: Confirm current price, returns, warranty, shipping and tax treatment before ordering, particularly for business or long-term deployments.
