Antoine Semenyo wears No. 42 for Manchester City, a number confirmed by both the club and the Premier League. His wage is less certain: Capology estimates his 2026–27 gross fixed salary at £180,000 per week, excluding bonuses, but Manchester City has not published his pay.
What number does Semenyo wear at Manchester City?
Semenyo wears No. 42. Manchester City announced the number when he joined, and the Premier League also confirmed it in its 9 January 2026 signing announcement. The club says his five-and-a-half-year contract runs through summer 2031. Manchester City’s number announcement also promotes a Semenyo No. 42 shirt range.
Why did Semenyo choose No. 42?
The number connects to the start of his senior career. Semenyo said No. 42 was his first number at Bristol City, where he made his senior debut as an 18-year-old in May 2018: “It was my first number at Bristol City when I first signed and that always stuck with me.”
At Bournemouth he wore No. 24. Manchester City’s No. 24 was occupied by Josko Gvardiol, so Semenyo returned to 42. As he explained: “It was either 42 or 24, and 24 wasn’t available so I went back to my first number. That was the inspiration behind it.” The number is personally meaningful to Semenyo; it is not described as unique across football.

How much does Antoine Semenyo earn at Man City?
Capology estimates Semenyo’s 2026–27 gross fixed salary at £180,000 per week, equivalent to £9.36 million per year, excluding bonuses. These are Capology’s estimates, not an official wage disclosure. Its salary profile cautions that figures are estimates and are not official.
“Gross” means before deductions, so the estimate is not his take-home pay. Bonuses are excluded from the fixed-salary figure; a possible bonus estimate should not be added to it as if it were confirmed compensation. Manchester City’s announcement gives the contract term but does not state Semenyo’s salary. BBC Sport’s report of a transfer fee of about £65 million concerns the cost of the transfer, not his wages.
