Anthropic is already expanding across Europe, and its latest confirmed financing is complete—not merely in progress. The Claude maker announced a $65 billion Series H on May 28, 2026, valuing the company at $965 billion post-money. It has also announced offices in London, Dublin, Zurich, Paris, Munich and Milan, alongside European hiring, enterprise partnerships, public-sector work and additional regional inference capacity.
The two developments are connected by demand: winning European businesses requires more than making Claude available online. Anthropic needs local sales, policy, research, support, partnerships and enough computing capacity to serve customers with demanding privacy and regulatory requirements.

The short answer
Anthropic’s European presence is now an operating strategy rather than a future plan. The company began with London and Dublin, added a Zurich research office, announced more than 100 EMEA roles, opened Paris and Munich as regional hubs, and announced Milan as its sixth European office in May 2026.
Its latest confirmed funding round is a $65 billion Series H, announced May 28, 2026, at a $965 billion post-money valuation. Anthropic said the capital would support safety and interpretability research, additional compute, Claude products and partnerships.
#1 Best Overall
There is no evidence in the available announcements that Anthropic was negotiating a newer round after Series H by the August 16, 2026 reporting cutoff. “Raising more money” is accurate if it refers to the company’s latest large financing; it should not imply that another round was definitely underway.
Anthropic’s European footprint
Anthropic’s expansion has happened in stages:
- London and Dublin: The initial commercial base for its European and EMEA operations.
- Zurich: A research-focused presence.
- Paris and Munich: Offices described as hubs for commercial growth, policy collaboration and partnerships.
- Milan: Announced in May 2026 to support relationships with Italian enterprises and developers.
In April 2025, Anthropic appointed Guillaume Princen as head of EMEA and announced plans for more than 100 new roles across Europe and the UK. The jobs covered research, engineering, sales, policy and operations. In August 2025, the company appointed Chris Ciauri as managing director of international and described its EMEA buildout as including those roles and offices.
The company’s organizational expansion also includes regional commercial leadership for northern and southern EMEA, startups, mid-market and digital-native businesses, as well as the DACH and Central and Eastern European markets. An office, however, does not automatically mean local data storage, local model training, support in every language or dedicated computing facilities.

Why Europe matters
Europe combines large enterprise markets with industries that are particularly sensitive to privacy, security, procurement and regulatory requirements. Banking, insurance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, automotive, manufacturing, aerospace and government all have potential uses for advanced AI, but they also tend to require extensive vendor reviews.
Rank #2
Local teams can help shorten sales cycles, navigate national procurement processes and build relationships with customers, regulators, universities and developer communities. Europe is also not one market: the UK, EU member states and Switzerland operate under different legal, regulatory and commercial conditions.
Anthropic said EMEA was its fastest-growing region in its November 2025 office announcement. The company reported that EMEA run-rate revenue had increased more than ninefold over the preceding year and that the number of large EMEA accounts had grown more than tenfold. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited regional financial statements. “Run-rate revenue” is an annualized performance measure, not the same as recognized annual revenue, profit or cash flow.
Anthropic identified European customers and prospects including L’Oréal, BMW, SAP, Sanofi, Lovable, N26, Pigment, Qonto and Doctolib. These examples show the industries and customer sizes the company is targeting, but they should not be read as an independent ranking of adoption.
Public-sector expansion is part of the strategy
Anthropic’s European strategy extends beyond private companies. On January 27, 2026, it announced a partnership with the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology to build and pilot an AI assistant for GOV.UK services, initially covering employment, training and support.
Anthropic also said it was working with the UK AI Security Institute on testing and evaluation. The announcement described a build-and-pilot project, not a claim that Claude had become the general-purpose engine for GOV.UK.
This matters because public-sector deployments can provide institutional credibility, but they also involve higher standards for safety, transparency, data handling and accountability.

The latest three announced rounds provide a clear view of the company’s recent financing pace:
| Round | Announcement | Amount | Post-money valuation | Stated focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series F | September 2, 2025 | $13 billion | $183 billion | Enterprise capacity, safety research and international expansion |
| Series G | February 12, 2026 | $30 billion | $380 billion | Research, products and infrastructure |
| Series H | May 28, 2026 | $65 billion | $965 billion | Safety, interpretability, compute, products and partnerships |
These three rounds total $108 billion when added together. That is the aggregate of the listed financings, not necessarily Anthropic’s complete lifetime fundraising total. The Series G announcement also included a portion of previously announced Microsoft and NVIDIA investments.
Series H was co-led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital. Anthropic also listed participation from investors including GIC, Coatue, D1 Capital, ICONIQ, BlackRock-affiliated funds, Blackstone, Fidelity, General Catalyst, Goldman Sachs-related funds, JPMorganChase, Lightspeed, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Qatar Investment Authority, Temasek and TPG. The named investors did not necessarily contribute equal amounts.
Anthropic reported $47 billion in run-rate revenue in its Series H announcement. That is an annualized metric based on recent performance, not audited annual revenue. Similarly, a $965 billion post-money valuation is a private-market financing valuation, not a public-company market capitalization.

What the new capital is supposed to fund
Anthropic said Series H proceeds would fund safety research, interpretability research, more compute, Claude products, partnerships and support for its global customer base.
The announcement did not identify a specific European allocation. The more accurate interpretation is that the funding gives Anthropic resources to expand globally, while its European announcements show where it is deploying people, partnerships and customer-facing capacity.
The strategy is capital-intensive. Training and serving advanced models requires expensive computing infrastructure, while enterprise customers expect reliability, security controls and support. Anthropic’s valuation reflects investor expectations about future growth; it does not establish profitability.

Anthropic has said regulated customers increasingly need in-region infrastructure for compliance and data-residency reasons. In May 2026, it said its collaboration with Amazon included additional inference capacity in Asia and Europe.

That supports a narrower claim: Anthropic is adding or planning international inference capacity, including in Europe. It does not establish that Anthropic is building or operating dedicated European data centers, nor does it disclose exact locations, ownership, capacity or launch dates.
Best Value
Infrastructure may be supplied through cloud partners rather than facilities owned by Anthropic. The distinction matters because “European office,” “European data processing” and “European data center” describe different things.
Anthropic distributes Claude through its own products and API, cloud platforms such as AWS Bedrock, enterprise and systems-integrator partnerships, direct deployments and public-sector arrangements. Its 2026 materials cite relationships involving AWS, Google, Microsoft and NVIDIA.

What this means for European businesses
For a European buyer, the important question is not simply whether Anthropic has an office nearby. The deployment route and contract determine the practical experience.
- Check data location: Identify the country or cloud region where prompts, outputs and related logs are processed.
- Review retention: Establish whether customer data is retained, for how long and whether it is used for model training.
- Confirm availability: Model, feature and plan availability can vary by country, product and distribution channel.
- Evaluate governance: Look for SSO, SCIM, role-based access, audit logs, centralized billing and administrative controls where required.
- Check contractual protections: Review GDPR documentation, international-transfer arrangements, security terms and any sector-specific commitments.
- Assess procurement: Determine whether buying directly, through the Anthropic API, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft or a systems integrator best fits existing contracts.
- Test operational terms: Verify rate limits, support arrangements, service-level commitments, model-change policies and exit options.
A consumer or professional Claude plan may suit an individual, but it may not provide the governance, auditability, retention controls or support that a regulated enterprise needs. An API offers flexibility but shifts more responsibility to the customer for application security, monitoring and cost control. Cloud-marketplace access can simplify procurement, but it does not automatically guarantee processing in a preferred European region.
What remains uncertain
- Whether Anthropic was negotiating another financing round after the May 28 Series H announcement.
- The exact size, location and ownership structure of its European inference capacity.
- The number of employees in each European office.
- Anthropic’s independently audited European revenue and regional profitability.
- Whether office expansion will translate into durable market share against OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Mistral and other competitors.
- How European electricity demand, grid capacity, water use and permitting will develop if regional AI infrastructure expands.
The bigger picture
Anthropic is not simply opening overseas sales offices after raising money. It is trying to become an enterprise AI infrastructure and applications company with a permanent European operating base.
The offices support localization and relationships. The hiring supports sales, research, policy and operations. The government partnership demonstrates institutional engagement. Cloud relationships and inference capacity address distribution and performance. The funding supplies capital for the compute and product development needed to connect those pieces.
