Does Coinbase Asset Management recommend a 1% or 5% Bitcoin allocation?

Allocation decisions depend on an investor’s circumstances, including ability to tolerate large losses, investment horizon, liquidity needs, and the rest of the portfolio. A proposed allocation from an asset manager does not establish that the same percentage is appropriate for a household. - Separate target from outcome. The figure is a forecast attributed to Bassili’s team; it is not a realized price or guarantee.
- Do not infer a probability. The interview listing does not state the chance of Bitcoin reaching the target.
- Do not infer a return from the target alone. A meaningful return estimate also depends on the starting price and the exact date used for comparison, neither of which is specified in the listing.
- Keep the allocation paper separate. Its 1% and 5% arguments are portfolio-allocation views, not a disclosed model validating the forecast.
The available material does not provide a competing set of forecasts on a consistent basis, so it cannot establish whether Bassili’s target is unusually high or low relative to other published views.
