That figure represents claims, not a confirmed court judgment or final debt balance. As of June 2026, reporting also described an unresolved dispute over whether the estate had reached a settlement with Lynne Mishele.
Is Anne Heche’s son selling her house or her belongings?
The available reporting describes a sale effort involving the estate’s remaining assets and tangible personal property. In March 2025, Us Weekly reported that Laffoon had moved property into secure storage and hired a company to help sell assets, including Heche’s piano, while also pursuing royalties and looking for additional business assets. The reporting does not establish that he was selling real estate owned by Heche.
The distinction matters: the damaged Mar Vista home associated with the 2022 crash was not reported as a house owned by Heche and being sold by her son. The Los Angeles Times described claims connected to that property, including claims by Mishele and owners Jennifer and John Durand.
What does the reported $4.1 million represent?
Us Weekly reported in 2025 that creditors had filed claims totaling approximately $4.1 million against Heche’s estate. A filed claim is an assertion that an estate owes money; it is not, by itself, proof that a court has approved the amount. The reported total should therefore not be described as a final judgment or a verified final debt balance.

The largest reported claims were connected to the crash and damage to the Mar Vista property. The Los Angeles Times reported in 2024 that Mishele and property owners Jennifer and John Durand each sought $2 million. Those were requested amounts, not adjudicated damages. Us Weekly also reported that actor Thomas Jane sought $149,106, alleging Heche owed him money for a loan.
Reported estate assets changed between filings
Published asset estimates came from different dates and accounts, so they should not be combined as though they were one final valuation. The Los Angeles Times reported in April 2024 that an inventory described approximately $110,000 in assets. Us Weekly later reported nearly $200,000 in identified assets in connection with a March 21, 2025 filing.

| Report and date | What the figure describes | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles Times, April 2024 | Approximately $110,000 in estate assets | A reported inventory at that time; not a final valuation. |
| Us Weekly, March 27, 2025 | Nearly $200,000 in identified assets | Based on a March 21 status update; included funds, business assets, residual income and personal property. |
| Us Weekly, 2025 | Approximately $4.1 million in creditor claims | Claims against the estate, not a confirmed judgment or final balance. |
The 2024 Los Angeles Times account described a modest bank account, royalties, a wholly owned corporation used for career projects and business functions, a podcast-related LLC interest, and personal property. It also reported that projected proceeds from Heche’s 2023 memoir, Call Me Anne, were expected to be less than $25,000; that was a projection in the estate reporting, not a current audited sales total.
In the March 2025 update, Laffoon said the estate was insolvent based on anticipated inventory and appraisal values and the claims filed. Us Weekly quoted the filing: “Based on the anticipated value of the combined inventories and appraisals and the filed creditors claims, the estate is insolvent.” The statement reflects the estate administrator’s assessment in a filing, rather than a court’s final determination of all claims.

Has the estate settled with Lynne Mishele?
Not according to the latest located reporting. TMZ’s June 19, 2026 account described a disagreement: Laffoon’s November 2025 filing reportedly characterized a settlement as tentative, while Mishele said she had not agreed to one and wanted a complete accounting. That is a reported procedural dispute, not a final court ruling. The available reporting does not establish a final resolution of Mishele’s claim or the probate case overall.
