Verdict: Angel One is a legitimate Indian stockbroker, not a fake or unregulated trading app. Angel One Limited is registered with SEBI under registration number INZ000161534 and is a member of major Indian exchanges and clearing corporations. That establishes the broker’s legitimacy—but it does not mean the platform is free of complaints, charges, technical problems, or regulatory action.
The practical question is not simply whether Angel One is “real.” It is whether you understand its brokerage after the introductory offer, DP charges, AMC, withdrawal timelines, order restrictions, and the risks of people impersonating the company.
Is Angel One a legitimate broker?
Yes. The regulated entity is Angel One Limited, a publicly known Indian intermediary with the following registrations and memberships:
| Registration or membership | Details |
|---|---|
| SEBI stockbroker registration | INZ000161534 |
| CIN | L67120MH1996PLC101709 |
| BSE member ID | 612 |
| NSE member ID | 12798 |
| MSEI member ID | 10500 |
| MCX member ID | 12685 |
| NCDEX member ID | 220 |
| CDSL depository participant registration | IN-DP-384-2018 |
SEBI’s intermediary record lists Angel One’s stockbroker registration as perpetual and shows its exchange and clearing relationships. You can verify the registration directly through SEBI’s intermediary database. Angel One also publishes its regulatory details on its regulatory disclosures page.

These registrations mean the genuine Angel One entity is a regulated intermediary. They do not guarantee investment returns, prevent trading losses, or prove that every person claiming to represent Angel One is genuine.
Why do some users call Angel One a scam?
The “scam” label usually combines several separate problems:
- Unexpected brokerage, DP, or account-maintenance charges
- Confusion about settlement and withdrawal timelines
- Rejected orders or delayed support
- Fraudsters using Angel One’s name to solicit money
A frustrating charge or rejected order can be a valid customer-service complaint, but it is not evidence that the broker is a fake operation. Separately, Angel One, NSE, and BSE have warned investors about fake trading apps and impersonators.
Use only the official Angel One website or app-store listing. Do not send money to an adviser’s personal bank account, join an unofficial WhatsApp or Telegram trading group, or trust anyone promising guaranteed profits. Angel One lists +91-8045070444 and [email protected] for cyberattack-related issues.

Angel One brokerage charges
One of the most important corrections to older reviews is that Angel One does not currently offer permanently free equity-delivery brokerage to all customers. Its listed introductory waiver applies only until you use ₹500 of brokerage or reach 30 days from onboarding—whichever comes first.
| Segment | Listed brokerage |
|---|---|
| Equity delivery | ₹0 up to ₹500 during the first 30 days; afterward, lower of ₹20 or 0.1% per executed order, subject to a ₹5 minimum |
| Intraday | ₹0 up to ₹500 during the first 30 days; afterward, lower of ₹20 or 0.1% per executed order, subject to a ₹5 minimum |
| Equity futures and options | ₹0 up to ₹500 during the first 30 days; afterward, ₹20 per executed order |
| Currency futures and options | ₹20 per executed order after the offer period |
| Commodity futures and options | ₹20 per executed order after the offer period |
The offer can be changed or discontinued according to Angel One’s pricing terms. Check the latest figures on its charges page before opening an account or placing trades.
Statutory charges are additional
Brokerage is only one line on a contract note. Depending on the transaction, you may also see securities transaction tax, exchange transaction charges, GST, stamp duty, SEBI charges, IPFT charges, and other statutory or exchange-related fees. GST is listed at 18% on applicable services.

- You only answer to yourself. That is the life of the successful day trader. Many people aspire to it, but very few succeed. Day trading is not gambling or an online poker game.
- To be successful at day trading you need the right tools and you need to be motivated, to work hard, and to persevere.
Some of these amounts are imposed by the government, exchanges, regulators, or clearing corporations rather than being retained as Angel One brokerage. The cost still matters to you, so review the complete tariff rather than comparing brokers only by their headline brokerage.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →DP charges can make a small delivery sale look expensive
DP, or depository participant, charges apply when you sell equity-delivery securities from your demat account. Angel One’s current support information lists:
- ₹20 plus 18% GST per scrip per transaction
- Charged per ISIN or scrip, not per share
- Not charged on equity purchases, intraday trades, or F&O trades
- Separate sales of the same scrip may create separate DP charges
For example, if you sell a stock once and later sell more shares of the same stock in a separate transaction, the DP fee may apply twice. This is especially noticeable when selling a small holding: the DP charge can represent a large percentage of the sale value even when the brokerage is low.
That is a fee-structure issue, not proof that Angel One invented a charge. Read the contract note and the broker’s current DP-charge explanation.
Account-maintenance charges
Angel One states that AMC is free for the first year, subject to the account conditions. After that, the current information lists:
Recommended Free Tools
| Account type | AMC treatment |
|---|---|
| Non-BSDA account | ₹60 plus GST per quarter, charged after the first trade in each quarter |
| BSDA account with holdings up to ₹4 lakh | No AMC |
| BSDA account with holdings above ₹4 lakh and up to ₹10 lakh | ₹100 plus GST per year |
To check the applicable charge in the app, use Account → Trades and Charges → Other Charges. Older articles quoting ₹240 per year as the standard AMC may not reflect the current pricing structure.
Other charges that may matter
These charges do not apply to every customer, but they can become material if you borrow, miss a payment, or use additional account services:
- MTF borrowing: 0.041% per day
- Debit balance: 0.049% per day
- Specified cash-collateral margin shortfall above ₹50,000: 0.0342% per day
- Delay-payment charge: 1.5% per month, levied every 15 days
- DDPI activation: ₹100 plus GST
- Cheque bounce: ₹350
- Margin pledge, unpledge, or invoke: CDSL ₹5 plus GST and Angel One ₹15 plus GST per ISIN
- MTF pledge, unpledge, or invoke: CDSL ₹12 plus GST and Angel One ₹8 plus GST per ISIN
Before using margin or leaving a debit balance, calculate the daily cost rather than assuming the account is effectively free.
Order rejections: what they mean
A rejected order is not the same as a pending order. To check the reason, open Orders → Order History. Angel One identifies insufficient margin, incorrect order types, and unavailable securities among possible causes.
Documented rejection messages include:
- “Member not allowed to place an order in this script”: the stock is restricted from trading.
- “New position not allowed?”: the derivative may be illiquid, far-month, or outside the broker’s permitted range.
- “Stock in square-off today”: trading may be restricted until the square-off limitation ends.
- “Insufficient funds”: add funds, reduce quantity, or increase available margin using eligible pledged securities.
- BSE F&O restrictions: certain contracts may be blocked because of liquidity or open-interest conditions; in documented circumstances, intraday BSE F&O orders are restricted and only limit orders may be available for certain contracts.
To activate a derivatives segment, use Account → Profile → Segment subscription, then activate the relevant segment. Even after activation, an order can still fail because of exchange rules, margin requirements, liquidity, or broker risk controls.
For a pending order, tap Orders and open Open Orders. A limit order may remain pending because its price has not been reached or there are too few buyers or sellers. Use Positions to view current-position information, Order History under open orders for the complete order list, and View Closed Positions for closed trades.
Withdrawals and “missing” funds
Angel One does not promise instant withdrawal of every balance shown in the trading account. Sale proceeds from shares generally become withdrawable on T+1, excluding weekends and trading or settlement holidays. Money deposited on the same day cannot be withdrawn on that same day.
| Withdrawal request time | Approximate credit time |
|---|---|
| Monday–Friday, midnight to 7:00 a.m. | 11:30 a.m. the same day |
| Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. | 11:30 p.m. the same day |
| Monday–Friday, 5:30 p.m. to midnight | 11:30 a.m. the next working day |
| Weekend or trading/settlement holiday | 11:30 a.m. the next working day |
To initiate a withdrawal:
- Open Account.
- Tap Withdraw under Trading Balance.
- Check the withdrawable amount.
- Enter the amount and destination bank account.
- Review the estimated credit time shown in the app.
To track it, use Account → Dash → Fund Transactions → Funds Withdrawn.

Angel One’s regulatory record
Angel One is legitimate, but it does not have a spotless compliance record.
In a November 28, 2024 SEBI adjudication order, SEBI imposed a ₹6 lakh penalty after an inspection involving matters such as technical glitches, inactive-client settlement, technical-glitch reporting, and controls over authorised persons. The order records Angel One’s submission that a technical glitch on May 8, 2023 was reported to NSE with some delay; NSE had imposed a ₹50,000 penalty for that delayed reporting. Read the SEBI order.
On June 15, 2026, SEBI published a settlement order disposing of adjudication and enquiry proceedings involving Angel One. Company disclosures and independent reporting state that Angel One paid a settlement amount of ₹4,28,01,600 in proceedings concerning alleged supervisory and compliance failures involving authorised persons. Read the SEBI settlement order.
A settlement is not the same as a criminal conviction or a finding that the entire brokerage is fraudulent. The record does show regulatory scrutiny. The fair conclusion is that Angel One is a real regulated broker with documented compliance issues—not a fake broker and not a risk-free one.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to complain if something goes wrong
Start with Angel One and make the complaint transaction-specific. Include:
- Order ID and exact order time
- Exchange and trading segment
- Screenshot or screen recording of the error
- Contract note, ledger, and funds statement
- Relevant bank statement
- Support-ticket, email, chat, or call references
- The exact amount and remedy requested
Angel One’s investor charter says complaints should be resolved immediately where possible and no later than 21 days after receipt. If the response is unsatisfactory, escalation options include SEBI SCORES 2.0, exchange-level review, and SMARTODR for online conciliation and arbitration.
“Angel One scammed me” is difficult to investigate. “Order ID 12345 was executed at 10:14 a.m., but the contract note shows a different price and the ledger debited ₹X” gives the broker and regulator something verifiable.

Is Angel One suitable for you?
Angel One may be a reasonable choice if you want a regulated Indian broker with mobile, web, and API-based trading access. It may be a poor fit if you:
- Expect permanently free equity-delivery brokerage
- Sell many different stocks in separate small transactions
- Do not monitor AMC and non-trading charges
- Need guaranteed execution during volatile markets
- Need immediate access to unsettled sale proceeds
- Trade illiquid, restricted, or far-month derivatives
- Cannot tolerate support or platform delays
Angel One also offers SmartAPI for rule-based automated orders. API access does not bypass margin, liquidity, segment-activation, exchange, order-parameter, or risk-management rules. An API order can be rejected for the same practical reasons as an order placed through the app.
FAQ
Is Angel One a scam?
No. Angel One Limited is a SEBI-registered Indian stockbroker with exchange, clearing, and depository registrations. It does have charges, operational restrictions, complaints, and a history of regulatory penalties and settlements, so “legitimate” should not be confused with “problem-free.”
Is Angel One safe for investing?
Angel One is a regulated intermediary, but regulation does not protect you from market losses, poor investment decisions, technical issues, or impersonation scams. Use the official app and website, enable account security, and verify all charges and transactions.
Does Angel One offer zero brokerage on delivery trades?
The current offer waives up to ₹500 of brokerage for the first 30 days or until the allowance is consumed, whichever comes first. Afterward, the listed equity-delivery brokerage is the lower of ₹20 or 0.1% per executed order, with a ₹5 minimum, plus applicable statutory charges.
Why was I charged a DP fee by Angel One?
DP charges apply when you sell equity-delivery securities from your demat account. Angel One currently lists ₹20 plus 18% GST per scrip per transaction. The fee is not charged on equity purchases, intraday trades, or F&O trades.
Why can I not withdraw all the money shown in Angel One?
The displayed trading balance may include unsettled sale proceeds, intraday or F&O profits, margin requirements, or amounts affected by pending charges. Equity-sale proceeds generally become withdrawable on T+1, excluding weekends and settlement holidays.
How do I escalate an Angel One complaint?
First complain to Angel One and preserve the order records, contract note, ledger, statements, screenshots, and ticket references. If unresolved, use SEBI SCORES 2.0, the relevant exchange review process, or SMARTODR where applicable.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe Bottom Line
Angel One is legit, but it is not fee-free, risk-free, or regulation-free. The evidence supports describing it as a real SEBI-registered broker with broad retail-market access, not as a scam brokerage. Before using it, understand the end of the introductory brokerage waiver, DP charges on delivery sales, post-first-year AMC, withdrawal settlement rules, and order restrictions. Also treat any unofficial Angel One “advisor” promising guaranteed returns as a potential fraud.
