Andy Carroll was officially confirmed as a shareholder of Dagenham & Redbridge on 28 February 2026. The club said supporters had first been told about his arrival as a player-owner in July 2025, but it did not disclose the size of his stake or how much he paid.
Which football club did Andy Carroll buy a share in?
Carroll’s confirmed shareholding is in Dagenham & Redbridge, the club commonly known as the Daggers. West Bromwich Albion, Reading and Newcastle United are clubs from his playing career; they are not the club named in the ownership announcement. Dagenham & Redbridge’s announcement says his holding was finalised on 28 February 2026, following the player-owner introduction shared with supporters in July 2025.
What is known about the shareholding?
The club confirmed Carroll as a shareholder and described him as a long-term partner in its revival. It did not publish a percentage, purchase price, or detailed terms. The word “shareholder” confirms an ownership interest, but the announcement does not establish the extent of his influence, any control rights, or the amount of money involved.
Carroll said, “This is just the start, I can’t wait for the journey. I am incredibly proud to finally have everything signed and confirmed. When I joined the Daggers, I said it was about more than just playing. I’m excited to continue the work to restore this Club to the Football League where it belongs.” The club attributed a separate statement to John Grabowski, saying Carroll’s experience and passion were officially integrated into the ownership structure and that his investment signalled shared intent to build a sustainable, winning future at Victoria Road. Both statements appear in the club’s announcement.

How does the ownership news relate to Carroll’s playing role?
The announcement described Carroll’s contribution on the pitch as well as his ownership role. Dagenham & Redbridge reported nine goal contributions in 16 appearances that season and said injury had derailed his form. Those are figures and commentary published by the club on 28 February 2026, not a current-season update.
In a later report dated 18 March 2026, BBC Sport described Carroll as a player and shareholder and reported that he had taken over as caretaker manager after Lee Bradbury was dismissed. That was a subsequent development, distinct from the February confirmation of his shareholding. BBC Sport’s report covers the caretaker appointment.

Carroll began his senior career at Newcastle and later played for Reading and West Bromwich Albion, among other clubs.
