Andhra Pradesh reported net GST collections of ₹19,635.49 crore for April–September 2026, the first half of FY2026-27. That is ₹2,875.28 crore more than the ₹16,760.21 crore collected in the same period a year earlier, an 18% increase, according to figures attributed to the state Commercial Taxes Department and reported on 2 October 2026.

How much GST did Andhra Pradesh collect in H1 FY2026-27?

The state’s reported net GST collection was ₹19,635.49 crore between April and September 2026, compared with ₹16,760.21 crore in April–September 2025. The year-over-year increase was ₹2,875.28 crore, or 18%.

Here, “net GST” means State GST (SGST) plus Andhra Pradesh’s SGST portion of Integrated GST (IGST), as described in the reporting. The figures were attributed to Chief Commissioner of State Tax Babu A by The New Indian Express; a PTI dispatch carried by The Economic Times reported the same totals.

Net GST is not the same as total commercial-tax collections

Andhra Pradesh’s total commercial-tax collections for April–September 2026 were ₹30,435.98 crore, up 18% from ₹25,892.92 crore in the year-earlier period. That broader figure is not GST alone. It includes commercial-tax revenue beyond the net GST measure, so the two totals should not be compared or described as if they represent the same category.

The commercial-tax totals are reported by The New Indian Express; the net GST totals are also corroborated by The Economic Times.

What happened in September?

September 2026 net GST collections were ₹3,182.87 crore, up 14.10% from ₹2,789.50 crore in September 2025. That monthly growth rate is lower than the 18% reported for the full April–September half-year.

September total commercial-tax collections were ₹4,986.18 crore, up 15.03% from ₹4,334.84 crore a year earlier. These are separate measures, just as they are in the half-year figures. The September figures were attributed to the state Commercial Taxes Department in reports by The New Indian Express and The Economic Times.

Why did collections rise?

The department attributed the increase to improved tax compliance, stronger enforcement, closer revenue monitoring and broader economic activity. It cited technology-led measures that included:

  • AI-based data analytics and scrutiny
  • AI-based IGST reversals
  • UPI-based enforcement analytics
  • Verification of registrations linked to electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs)
  • Expansion of Profession Tax using Aadhaar integration

These are the department’s stated explanations. The reporting does not quantify how much of the H1 increase came from any one initiative, or establish the independent causal effect of each measure.

Reported September contributors

The PTI report carried by The Economic Times lists electric machinery, machinery and equipment, iron and steel, and plastics among leading commodity contributors in September. It also names financial-related services, support services, professional and technical services, and real-estate services among leading service segments. These are reported contributors, not a quantified breakdown of the first-half growth.

Other September tax figures are separate from net GST

Andhra Pradesh received an IGST settlement of ₹1,927.62 crore in September, 20.12% more than the ₹1,604.69 crore settlement a year earlier, according to the reports. The New Indian Express also reported September petroleum VAT of ₹1,666.91 crore and Profession Tax of ₹43.53 crore. These figures describe separate receipts and should not be added to, or mistaken for, the reported net GST total without a matching accounting definition.
