Engadget reported on August 30, 2024, that a pre-production Arrival Gamma electric van was listed on eBay. At the time, the highest reported bid was £5,600 (about $7,368)—a snapshot, not a confirmed sale price. The report does not establish whether the van sold or what it ultimately fetched.
What the eBay listing claimed
According to Engadget’s August 30, 2024 report, the anonymous seller said they had worked for Arrival and bought the van at a liquidation auction in June. The seller did not disclose the amount paid. They described it as “the only known running and fully operational Arrival Gamma Van available.” That was the seller’s claim; Engadget did not independently verify the van’s history or uniqueness.
Engadget described sliding electric doors, a dashboard touchscreen and intact shelving, and said the van appeared to be in good working order. The seller suggested it could be used as a campervan. Those observations and suggestions are not a roadworthiness inspection, and the report does not establish that the van was legally or mechanically ready for road use.
What the reported bid does—and does not—tell you
Engadget said the highest bid was £5,600, approximately $7,368, as of Friday, August 30, 2024. That figure records the listing’s reported status at that time. It is not evidence of a completed transaction, a final sale price, or what the buyer may have paid after the report.

The cited report does not say whether the listing later ended, whether a sale took place, or what happened to the vehicle afterward. It therefore does not answer how much the van sold for, if it sold at all.
Why an Arrival prototype was unusual
Arrival was an electric delivery-vehicle company. Engadget reported that Arrival built 25 vans in 2021 for testing and had committed to build 10,000 vehicles for UPS. A commitment to build that number should not be read as proof that 10,000 vehicles were delivered.

The company’s finances were also part of the context: Engadget reported that Arrival had $205 million remaining at the end of January 2023, and that it closed up shop in 2024. The eBay van’s reported link to a liquidation auction made it a rare remnant of the company’s planned vehicle program, but the available account does not document a complete chain of ownership or establish the van’s condition beyond the observations it describes.
