Amtrak advertises Auto Train passenger fares as low as $95, but that price does not include transporting your vehicle. Your actual trip total depends on the travel date, passenger count, accommodation, vehicle and available inventory; check the booking flow for a quote for your itinerary.
What does the $95 Auto Train fare include?
Amtrak’s official Auto Train experience page, checked October 4, 2026, advertises fares “as low as $95 + the cost of your vehicle.” The $95 is a starting passenger fare—not a guaranteed price for a particular departure and not the all-in cost for a household. Vehicle transportation is charged separately.

Amtrak says it quotes the lowest fare available in each class when a reservation is made. The amount you see can therefore vary with your date, party size, accommodation, vehicle and availability. To estimate the real expense, compare the complete booking total for the people and vehicle traveling, rather than multiplying the headline fare or treating it as a fixed ticket price. Amtrak’s terms and conditions and live booking result are the relevant checks for your itinerary.

- Choose your date and route. Auto Train runs nonstop between Lorton, Virginia, near Washington, DC, and Sanford, Florida, near Orlando.
- Add all passengers and your vehicle. Amtrak says to reserve the vehicle when booking. Its vehicle requirements explain eligible vehicles and restrictions; check them before paying if your vehicle is nonstandard.
- Compare accommodation options. Check the fare for the passenger class or accommodation you want, not just the lowest headline fare.
- Review the final booking total and terms. Confirm the vehicle charge, passenger fares, applicable offer conditions and itinerary details shown for the selected departure.
Is there a current Kids Ride Free offer?
On October 4, 2026, Amtrak’s experience page showed a Kids Ride Free offer through October 11, 2026, with an adult rail fare. The page instructs customers to add child travelers and enter promo code C507 when booking on Amtrak.com or in the Amtrak app. This is a date-limited offer: check the booking flow for its conditions and whether it applies to your trip.

Promotional prices can become stale quickly. The same page displayed flash-sale terms for a sale window of August 6–14, 2026, for travel September 7–December 13, 2026; the booking window had passed by October 4. A separate August 21, 2024 Amtrak press release described a past offer of Coach fares as low as $34 for adults and $17 for children ages 2–12, plus vehicle cost. Neither historical promotion establishes a currently bookable fare.
What the journey and onboard options are like
Amtrak describes the trip as approximately 17.5 hours. Coach passengers may purchase meals and receive a complimentary continental breakfast before arrival. First Class private-room customers receive traditional dining with dinner and a hot breakfast. Amtrak also advertises free basic Wi-Fi; verify current onboard services before travel.

Passengers cannot access their vehicle during the journey. Remove anything you need onboard before the vehicle is loaded, and follow the station arrival and check-in instructions in your reservation.

- Date and availability: the fare shown for your selected departure, rather than an advertised minimum.
- Vehicle eligibility and charge: whether your vehicle meets the rules and what the booking flow charges to carry it.
- Accommodation: the price and onboard meal arrangements for Coach versus a private room.
