AMP Futures is the U.S. futures-brokerage business associated with AMP Global Clearing, LLC; it should not be assumed to be a conventional spot-forex or CFD broker. AMP identifies the company as a futures commission merchant and publishes NFA ID 0412490, but verify the current regulatory profile and exact legal entity in your account documents before funding. The NFA also recorded a 2015 compliance decision and fine, so “legitimate” does not mean risk-free or free of regulatory history.
AMP-branded services may involve different entities, products, and protections by country. This review focuses on AMP Futures / AMP Global Clearing, LLC; it does not establish the current status of every AMP-branded forex offer.
Is AMP Trading legitimate?
AMP’s official materials describe AMP Global Clearing, LLC as a U.S. futures commission merchant and clearing member of CME, CBOT, COMEX, and NYMEX. The company publishes NFA ID 0412490. These are the company’s representations; check the current NFA BASIC profile independently rather than treating a brand name, ID, or website logo as proof of current registration or membership.
AMP describes its service as self-directed trading through multiple platforms. Its U.S. futures brokerage is distinct from a typical retail spot-forex broker: currency exposure may be available through exchange-traded currency futures, but futures have contract specifications, expiration, and exchange trading rules.

|---|---|
| What entity is this review about? | AMP Global Clearing, LLC, doing business as AMP Futures, the U.S. futures-brokerage business discussed here. |
| Is it a conventional spot-forex broker? | AMP’s U.S. service is presented primarily as futures brokerage. Do not assume it is the same as a spot-forex or CFD service. |
| Is its current status confirmed here? | No. Check the exact entity’s current profile in NFA BASIC and match it to your account agreement. |
| Does regulation guarantee safety or profits? | No. Regulatory checks help verify identity and oversight; they do not prevent trading losses or operational problems. |
What AMP offers—and what this review does not establish
AMP describes online, self-directed futures trading through multiple third-party platforms. Its risk disclosure discusses futures, forex, and options, but the reviewed sources do not establish that the same AMP legal entity offers every product called “AMP forex” in every jurisdiction. If an account agreement names an affiliate, introducing broker, or overseas company, verify that entity separately.
A futures contract has an exchange-defined size, tick value, settlement terms, trading hours, and often an expiration and roll schedule. It is not simply a spot-forex trade under another name. Check the contract specifications and the broker’s terms for the product and account you intend to use.
How to verify AMP’s registration
The CFTC directs customers to NFA BASIC for registration and disciplinary background checks. NFA says BASIC includes registration, membership, disciplinary, and financial information about derivatives firms and professionals. A database record is a due-diligence tool, not a guarantee against fraud or loss.
- Read the account agreement and note the exact legal entity and address.
- Search that entity in NFA BASIC and review its full profile, registration type, status, and history.
- Match the regulator profile to the entity and address in your account documents; do not rely on a similar brand name or an NFA ID alone.
- If an affiliate, introducing broker, overseas company, or social-media promoter is involved, verify that party separately with the relevant regulator.
- Confirm that the official contact details and payment instructions match the verified firm and account documents.
Regulatory and customer-case history
The National Futures Association’s September 17, 2015 decision found that AMP Global Clearing LLC violated Compliance Rule 2-9(a) by failing to adopt and fully implement clear anti-money-laundering policies and adequate risk-management policies, and by issuing margin calls that did not disclose the exact amount. Under the settlement, AMP agreed to the findings without admitting or denying the complaint’s allegations, and the NFA ordered a $25,000 fine. This is a dated historical action, not a statement that the same conduct is currently occurring.

A separate CFTC reparations decision dated April 6, 2022 dismissed Patrick Wong’s complaint because he failed to prove his case by a preponderance of the evidence. The decision says the customer used Sierra Chart, a third-party platform, to enter the orders at issue. That outcome concerns one complaint; it does not establish that all customer complaints are unfounded or that every customer will have the same experience.
Fees and platform considerations
AMP’s published fee schedule includes costs beyond commissions, and says it can change. It lists a $30 fee for domestic and international wire withdrawals and a $25-per-contract fee for margin or 80% daily-loss-limit liquidation. The schedule also discusses possible third-party platform charges, currency conversions, and additional market-data pricing. Confirm current charges directly in the applicable schedule before opening or funding an account.
Compare the full cost for your contract and configuration—not just a headline commission—including commissions, exchange and regulatory fees, market data, paid platform features, and relevant funding or withdrawal charges. Your selected platform, datafeed, internet connection, exchange systems, and broker processes can all affect order handling. Verify how to contact the broker during an outage.
| Cost or service to check | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Trading costs | Commission plus exchange and regulatory fees for the contract and trading frequency you expect. |
| Platform and data | Any recurring third-party platform, technology, or market-data charges. |
| Withdrawal | Current withdrawal method, timing, and applicable fee; the published schedule lists a $30 wire-withdrawal fee. |
| Liquidation | Applicable margin and daily-loss-limit liquidation terms; the published schedule lists a $25-per-contract fee for these events. |
| Currency conversion | Whether conversion applies to your account and what costs the schedule specifies. |
Trading and operational risks
Futures leverage can make a relatively small market move have a proportionately larger effect on deposited or required funds. Margin is not a cap on losses; market moves, margin changes, or liquidation can leave a customer with losses beyond the cash initially deposited. The CFTC cautions that “Derivatives products are generally considered high-risk.”

AMP’s risk disclosure states: “Trading and order routing through electronic systems may involve risks related to system or component failure.” It warns that electronic failures can prevent entering, executing, modifying, or canceling orders or affect order priority. AMP says customers can contact its 24-hour trade desk if access to a platform is blocked; check the current procedure and contact details before trading. Disclosures also note that exchanges and providers may limit liability for failures or delays.
Before trading, understand the contract’s tick size and value, margin requirements, liquidation rules, and order behavior. A stop order does not guarantee an exact fill price, particularly in a fast market. Simulated or delayed-data trading may not behave like live trading.
How to spot an AMP impersonation scam
Fraudsters can copy a real firm’s name, registration details, address, or logo. Be cautious of unsolicited contacts, guaranteed returns, pressure to deposit, requests to pay a personal account or unrelated wallet, demands for extra “tax” or “release” fees to withdraw, and requests for remote access to your device. Verify any offer using contact information independently obtained from the firm’s official site and regulatory records. Do not send additional money to someone claiming it will recover funds from a suspected scam.
Who may find AMP suitable?
AMP Futures may be worth considering for a self-directed trader who specifically wants exchange-traded futures and understands contract specifications, leverage, platform and data costs, and order-routing risks. It may not suit someone seeking a simple spot-forex app or someone who has not learned futures margin, expiration, and liquidation mechanics.
Verdict: scam or legit?
The available evidence supports describing AMP Global Clearing, LLC / AMP Futures as an established U.S. futures-brokerage business that identifies itself as an FCM and publishes an NFA ID—not as a conventional spot-forex broker. That does not settle the current status of every AMP-branded service, and the NFA’s 2015 decision is material history to consider. Verify the exact entity and current regulator profile, review the full fee and risk disclosures, and do not mistake registration for a guarantee of safety or profits.

What happened in the 2022 CFTC customer case?
The CFTC dismissed Patrick Wong’s reparations complaint on April 6, 2022 because he failed to prove his case by a preponderance of the evidence. The decision says he used Sierra Chart, a third-party platform, to enter the orders at issue.
Can futures losses exceed the amount deposited?
Yes. Futures margin does not cap losses at the amount deposited. Leverage, market moves, margin changes, and operational or liquidation issues can affect outcomes.
What fees should I check before opening an AMP account?
Check the current fee schedule for commissions, exchange and regulatory fees, data and platform charges, currency conversion, and funding or withdrawal costs. AMP’s published schedule lists a $30 wire-withdrawal fee and a $25-per-contract margin or 80% daily-loss-limit liquidation fee; confirm whether these amounts still apply to your account.
