Bitcoin privacy developer Amir Taaki said he was questioned by Singapore police for six hours and deported from the country, according to an October 6, 2026 report by Bitcoin Magazine republished by CryptoRank. The report attributes the account to Taaki’s post on X; it does not independently verify the deportation, and it gives no official Singapore explanation.
What Taaki says happened in Singapore
In the account quoted by Bitcoin Magazine, Taaki wrote: “Just got questioned for 6 hours by glow police then deported from Singapore. Everything about what I work on.” He also said the questioning concerned his work. The six-hour duration is Taaki’s reported account, not an independently confirmed figure.
The available report does not include a statement from Singapore police or immigration authorities, or an official reason for the reported deportation. That absence in the report does not establish whether an explanation exists elsewhere.
What is known about Taaki’s other reported encounters
The same article attributes additional claims to Taaki. He said he had been deported from Argentina and Mexico and detained in Serbia and Japan during the previous year. He also said officials in other encounters described them as “random checks,” and that he could not find information identifying which country had sanctioned him.
