American Airlines unveiled a centennial logo and an anthem video on September 23, 2025, ahead of its 100th anniversary on April 15, 2026. The identity pairs the airline’s familiar branding with an infinity symbol, while the video looks back at company milestones and points toward a “Forever forward” future.
What American Airlines revealed
In its September 23, 2025 announcement, American said it was launching a centennial brand and anthem video with 100 days remaining in the year. The airline framed the campaign around its history of innovation and its “Forever forward” outlook.
The centennial logo combines American’s familiar brand with an infinity symbol. American says the mark represents its enduring legacy and connection with customers, and associates it with strength and timelessness. Those are the company’s stated meanings for the design.
What the anthem video shows
American describes the video as combining historic and present-day images of its fleet, global network, and employees. Its narration traces the airline’s story from a 1926 mail flight between Chicago and St. Louis through milestones including the DC-3, an airport lounge, and a loyalty program. It closes with the possibility of what comes next and the phrase “Forever forward.”

The milestones and “first” claims in the campaign are American’s own account of its history. The airline says it introduced scheduled air cargo service, the first airport lounge, and the first airline loyalty program; its centennial timeline dates DC-3 commercial service to 1936, its first airport lounge to 1939, and AAdvantage’s launch to 1981.
How the centennial design appears on aircraft
The aircraft treatment uses American’s existing livery as its base, adding silver infinity rings toward the rear of a Boeing 737. American says the rings refer to the logo’s infinity mark, with three shades of gray representing past, present, and future. The airline also says the rings’ mica finish evokes the polished aluminum of its early fleet. Its livery design story describes decals already flying on some aircraft and the planned application across the fleet.
In a 2026 announcement, American said it was placing a centennial decal on its fleet of more than 1,500 aircraft. That is the airline’s stated rollout plan, not an independent count of aircraft carrying the design.

How the anniversary is being marked in 2026
The reveal in September 2025 preceded the anniversary itself: American identifies April 15, 1926, as the date a Robertson Aircraft Corporation DH-4 carried its first mail flight from Chicago to St. Louis, and April 15, 2026, as the centennial. The 2026 activations extend the identity beyond the original logo and video announcement.
