Which listed processor fits your priorities?
Ryzen 5 9600X: the lower-cost entry in this snapshot
At $220 on the accessed Newegg listing, the six-core 9600X is the price-led comparison point among the two highlighted deals. It may suit a buyer prioritizing a lower processor purchase price, but the listing alone does not establish performance for a particular game or workload.
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
Ryzen 7 9800X3D: a higher-priced X3D option
The eight-core 9800X3D was listed at $469 and carries AMD’s X3D branding. That makes it a gaming-oriented alternative to consider, but the sources available here do not provide neutral, model-specific gaming tests comparing it with the 9600X. Don’t treat the higher price or product label as proof of a specific performance advantage for your games.
Other listed alternatives
The same Newegg page listed the Ryzen 9 9900X at $379, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D at $699, and the Ryzen 7 9850X3D at $499. The retrieved listing showed no markdown for the latter two. Compare the full product specifications and your workload rather than assuming a higher model number or X3D branding automatically makes a better-value purchase.
Rank #2
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Gaming and Content Creation Processor
- Max. Boost Clock : Up to 5.7 GHz; Base Clock: 4.3 GHz
- Form Factor: Desktops , Boxed Processor
- Architecture: Zen 5; Former Codename: Granite Ridge AM5
What “Zen 5” means
AMD identifies Ryzen 9000 desktop processors as Zen 5. AMD says the architecture uses 4nm process technology and cites improvements to branch prediction, pipelines and vectors, and out-of-order execution. AMD also claims an approximately 16% generation-over-generation single-thread IPC uplift on its desktop processor page. That figure is AMD’s manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement of either sale-listed CPU.

Check the full upgrade cost before purchasing
Both highlighted Newegg listings identify Socket AM5, but that does not establish compatibility with every AM5 system. Check the exact motherboard’s CPU support list and required BIOS version, memory compatibility, cooler fit, and any other parts your build needs. An upgrade does not automatically require a new motherboard, memory, or cooler; it depends on your existing hardware and the CPU’s support requirements.
Rank #3
- The best for creators meets the best for gamers, can deliver ultra-fast 100+ FPS performance in the world's most popular games
- 16 Cores and 32 processing threads, based on AMD "Zen 5" architecture
- 5.7 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 80 MB cache, DDR5-5600 support
- For the state-of-the-art Socket AM5 platform, can support PCIe 5.0 on select motherboards
- Cooler not included, liquid cooler recommended
- Confirm the motherboard model and CPU support, including whether a BIOS update is needed.
- Check the memory type and compatibility specified for your motherboard and processor.
- Verify that your cooler fits the socket and can meet the processor’s cooling requirements.
- Compare total platform cost—not just the CPU price—if you need replacement components.
- At checkout, confirm the live price, stock, seller, coupon conditions, and any bundle details.
AMD’s product and retailer pages can help with product and purchase-channel information, but the Newegg snapshot is the source for the prices above. AMD’s locator lists retailer channels, but no Amazon deal price is established here. See AMD’s Ryzen processor retailer locator.

The displayed markdowns are Newegg’s comparisons against reference prices on its page, not evidence of the processors’ typical historical prices. A separate UL Benchmarks page includes broad CPU Profile comparisons and displayed MSRP figures, but it does not provide a direct independent gaming comparison for these particular 9600X and 9800X3D sale listings. It should not be used to infer which one performs better in a specific game.
