How to read the first-day pop
An IPO offer price is the price at which shares are sold in the offering; the first-day close is a later market price. The gap between them shows how the stock finished its debut session relative to the offer price. It is not, by itself, evidence of the company’s long-term value, nor does it tell an investor what price was available when they placed an order after trading began.
