Amber announced on August 5, 2024, that it had acquired Madbricks, a game-development studio based in Bogotá, Colombia. Amber said the deal expanded its Latin American presence and built on previous collaborations with the studio. The companies did not disclose the acquisition price.
What the acquisition means
Amber presented the acquisition as part of its strategy to grow its global studio network, particularly in emerging markets. Madbricks added a Bogotá base to Amber’s Latin American presence, alongside its Guadalajara studio in Mexico. Amber said the companies had collaborated on projects before the deal.
Amber CEO Mihai Pohonțu called the acquisition a “natural progression” after the studios’ past collaborations. Madbricks CEO Miguel Benavides said joining Amber would give the studio access to larger projects and global resources, which he said could help it work more efficiently and pursue its long-term vision.
What Madbricks does
Amber describes Madbricks as a studio working across mobile, PC, and console games. Its current services page lists Madbricks among its studios in those platform categories.
