Amazon’s 2026 U.S. Labor Day Deals event ran from August 28 through September 7, and it had ended by October 4, 2026. Its prices and stock are historical—not offers you can assume are available now. The documented picks included products such as Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones and a promotion on returned and refurbished goods, but the available reporting does not establish a verified, live list of 50 deals or prove that every pick was the best price available.

What Amazon’s 2026 Labor Day sale included

Amazon’s U.S. Labor Day Deals event ran August 28–September 7, 2026. Tom’s Guide later reported that the sale had ended. Deal coverage from the event is useful as a record of products and promotions, not as a current shopping list: prices can change, and items can sell out. WIRED noted that its Labor Day deals were in flux and that some grill and griddle picks had sold out before the holiday.

Amazon also ran Second Chance Savings as part of the event. The promotion advertised up to 30% off already discounted returned and refurbished products, including Amazon Pre-Owned Devices and items from brands such as Ninja, Shark, Breville, Garmin, and ASUS. The promotion has ended; its maximum advertised discount should not be read as a typical discount or as a guarantee that every eligible item received 30% off.

Documented product picks from the event

Coverage named a range of products, but the available examples do not establish a complete, independently verified ranking of 50 live Amazon offers. WIRED included Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless headphones among its picks. Tom’s Guide’s coverage named Apple AirPods 4, an Apple 11-inch iPad, the Weber Spirit II E-210 propane grill, Garmin Forerunner 55, and Stanley Quencher H2.0 tumbler, among other products. Those names document what the publications featured; they do not establish current availability or prices.

Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones: a historical price example

WIRED’s roundup listed the Sony WH-1000XM5 at $298 on Amazon against a $400 reference price. In its detailed treatment, WIRED cited $198 at B&H Photo and Sony and described that offer as the lowest price it had seen at the time. These are historical figures reported by WIRED, not current prices or an independent price check. The difference between the Amazon figure in the roundup and the other retailers’ price is a useful reminder to compare sellers rather than judge an offer by its markdown label alone.

Amazon Second Chance Savings Amazon advertised up to 30% off already discounted returned and refurbished goods during the August 28–September 7, 2026 event. A past promotion and a maximum advertised discount, not a current or universal markdown.

How to judge a deal before buying

A sale badge or claimed percentage off does not, by itself, show that a product is a good value. For a current purchase, check the live listing and compare the price with its recent history and competing offers. Amazon’s guidance for Prime Big Deal Days describes a product-page Price History feature with up to 365 days of pricing data; that is a general tool for checking price context, not evidence that a particular Labor Day offer was worthwhile.

  • Confirm the product’s current price, seller, condition, and stock on its listing.
  • Compare the price with the product’s recent history and other retailers’ current offers.
  • For a returned or refurbished item, read the condition and return details on the specific listing rather than assuming every item has the same terms.
  • Consider whether the product’s reviewed merits suit your needs; a discount does not make an unsuitable purchase a bargain.

What Amazon reported about second-hand shopping

In its 2026 announcement, Amazon said U.S. customers saved more than $1.5 billion on second-hand purchases in the prior year and bought more than 100 million products. These are Amazon-reported figures; the announcement does not provide an independent audit for them. Amazon listed vacuums, espresso makers, phones, cameras, and tablets among popular second-hand categories.
