What Amazon advertised
Amazon said the event would feature millions of deals across more than 35 categories, including electronics, home, beauty, apparel, toys, kitchen, grocery and seasonal products. The company listed examples of maximum discounts on selected items:
- Up to 50% off select electronics from JBL and Canon.
- Up to 50% off select Nintendo games.
- Up to 55% off select Shark home products.
- Up to 50% off select beauty products and Amazon devices.
- Up to 40% off select toys and kitchen products.
These were Amazon’s advertised ceilings for selected products, not discounts across an entire brand or category, and the deal count was Amazon’s own description rather than an independently audited total. Its announcement also promoted holiday décor, wrapping supplies, candles, serving items, family pajamas and stocking stuffers under $10. Grocery promotions included a “Feed 5 for $25” Thanksgiving meal offer; grocery selection and delivery depended on location and availability.

Deals could change during the event
Amazon said new offers would appear throughout the promotion, including themed daily deals. Individual deals could be time-limited or sell out before December 1, so the event’s overall end date did not guarantee that a particular product or price would remain available.
Where shoppers could look for offers
- Amazon’s Black Friday storefront for Black Friday promotions.
- Amazon’s Cyber Monday storefront for Cyber Monday offers.
- The Amazon Shopping app, including its “Today’s Big Deals” and daily deal sections.
- Amazon’s holiday gift guides and Small Business Holiday Shop.
Amazon also promoted Rufus, its AI shopping assistant, and a “Help Me Decide” feature as shopping aids. They can help shoppers narrow choices, but they are Amazon-provided tools—not independent price-comparison services. The Amazon deal preview describes these features.

Did shoppers need Prime?
Amazon did not describe the overall 2025 event as Prime-exclusive; its date explainer presented it as available to Amazon customers generally. Prime may affect shipping benefits, delivery options and other membership features, but shoppers should check the terms on each listing rather than assume a Prime membership is required for the sale price.
How to judge whether an advertised discount is worthwhile
A large percentage label does not by itself show that a deal is the best available price. Before buying, check the listing and compare the same item elsewhere:

- Verify the exact product. Match the model, generation, size, condition and bundle; a discount may apply to only one variation.
- Check the current price and seller. Review who sells and fulfills the item, and compare the actual checkout price—not just a claimed list price. Price-history services such as CamelCamelCamel and Keepa can provide context, but confirm that the history matches the same product variation and seller.
- Read the terms. Check whether a coupon must be clipped, whether quantity limits or a timer apply, and what the return eligibility and deadline are.
- Check delivery before treating it as a gift option. Confirm the estimated arrival date and, for grocery or same-day delivery offers, whether service is available at your address.
- Compare competing retailers. Other stores may have the same model, different pickup options or different return and warranty terms. Compare the complete offer rather than the advertised percentage.
Buying early can reduce the chance of a popular item selling out or arriving late, while waiting may expose shoppers to later discounts on selected products. Neither outcome is guaranteed. Consider Prime on its broader benefits and cost rather than joining solely for a discount that may not require membership.

November 20 was Amazon’s 2025 event launch date, not Black Friday and not a confirmed 2026 schedule. The official Amazon pages cited here document the 2025 promotion; they do not establish a start date for the following year. Shoppers planning for another holiday season should wait for that year’s announcement rather than carry the 2025 date forward.
