How the $10 million promotion worked
Amazon funded $5 for each of the first two million thank-yous, producing a maximum campaign total of $10 million. The terms were reported when the promotion was announced in December 2024 by GeekWire. This was not a tip charged to the customer: Amazon supplied the reward.
To send a thank-you, customers could say “Alexa, thank my driver” to an Alexa-enabled device or search “thank my driver” on Amazon’s website or app. The action notified the driver who completed the customer’s most recent delivery. Customers could continue sending thanks after the limited paid rewards ran out, and the feature was available beyond the holiday promotion.
Ways to send a driver a thank-you

Amazon’s current feature explainer confirms the web, shopping app, Alexa app, and Alexa-enabled-device routes. That page describes the feature and the later 2025 campaign; it does not establish that every rule was identical in 2024.

Is Amazon’s $5 offer still available?
No. The $10 million figure refers to the 2024 holiday offer, not an ongoing customer benefit. Amazon’s later campaign began December 3, 2025: it offered $5 for each thank-you until two million were submitted, then counted additional thank-yous toward daily prizes through December 31. Amazon’s page now says that campaign has ended and that it received more than 5.5 million thank-yous in December 2025. The same page says Amazon looks forward to sharing more in 2026, but does not confirm a 2026 promotion.
Amazon also reports more than 46 million total thank-yous since the feature launched in 2022. That is Amazon’s cumulative figure, not an independently audited statistic. Neither it nor the 2025 campaign results should be confused with the two-million-thank-you cap announced for the 2024 offer.

What the 2025 rules say—and what they do not establish about 2024
Amazon’s official 2025 promotion rules required a thank-you within 14 days of delivery and limited it to the driver of the customer’s most recent delivery. They allowed one thank-you and one $5 reward per delivery while supplies lasted; after the base rewards ran out, thank-yous counted toward daily contests with prizes for eligible drivers.
Those are the terms Amazon published for the 2025 campaign. They should not be presented as rules for the separate 2024 promotion unless a source confirms that they applied then.

How the old Amazon Flex tip case differs
The holiday thank-you promotion was a company-funded appreciation reward. It is distinct from allegations about customer checkout tips for Amazon Flex deliveries from late 2016 through September 2019. In a 2022 complaint, the District of Columbia’s attorney general alleged that Amazon represented that all certain customer tips would go to drivers while using some tips to subsidize labor costs. The complaint alleged that more than $1 million in customer tips was used that way; it was an allegation about an earlier checkout practice, not a finding about the 2024 promotion.
The Associated Press reported on February 7, 2025, that Amazon agreed to pay nearly $4 million to settle the District’s case. Amazon denied the allegations and did not admit wrongdoing in the settlement, according to the AP report. That settlement concerns the historical Flex tip case, not the company-funded holiday thank-yous.
