Contemporaneous coverage reported a limit of one use per customer and a cap of the first 10,000 eligible customers. The reports do not establish how many customers redeemed it, so the cap should not be read as the number of actual uses.
Which items would have qualified?
EcommerceBytes reported that customers needed to receive an invitation by email or push notification, or see Amazon.co.uk’s banner and visit its 25 Years Anniversary landing page. It also reproduced terms saying eligible purchases had to be from Amazon itself: third-party seller items were excluded even if fulfilled by Amazon or Prime-eligible. These conditions come from EcommerceBytes’ account of the promotion, rather than a currently available Amazon offer page.

- Gift cards, Warehouse Deals, digital products and e-books
- Alcohol, baby and infant formula, e-cigarettes and related items
- Delivery charges and gift wrapping
So a basket reaching £25 was not necessarily enough: the order also had to meet the reported seller, category and invitation conditions.

Why was Amazon UK turning 25?
Amazon.co.uk launched in 1998 with 1.2 million book titles, according to EcommerceBytes’ 2023 report on the anniversary. Amazon UK Country Manager John Boumphrey said the business had “evolved from being an online bookseller in 1998, to offering customers millions of items including tech, toys, food, fashion, film, music and lots more.” EcommerceBytes, 15 September 2023.
Stuff also published an alphabetical list of products it identified as Amazon UK’s 25 most-bought products over its first 25 years, including Andrex toilet rolls, Bio-Oil, Call of Duty, Crocs, Dobble, Duracell AAA batteries, Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick, Kindle devices, Harry Potter books, Tassimo Kenco coffee pods and WaterWipes. That retrospective list is not evidence that each item qualified for the code or was discounted.
