Yes. Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery now includes eligible fresh, perishable groceries that customers can put in the same cart as eligible non-grocery items. Amazon said on May 12, 2026, that the service reached more than 2,300 U.S. cities and towns—but that company-reported total does not establish availability at any particular address. Check your address, live inventory, delivery window, and final fee at checkout.
What changed with Amazon same-day grocery delivery?
Amazon announced on August 13, 2025, that customers in more than 1,000 U.S. cities and towns could add fresh groceries to Same-Day Delivery. It said then that it aimed to reach more than 2,300 by the end of 2025. In an update dated May 12, 2026, Amazon reported that the service had expanded to more than 2,300 cities and towns, with more expansion planned during 2026. These are Amazon’s reported coverage figures, not a promise that a specific address qualifies. Amazon’s 2025 announcement and its May 2026 update describe the rollout.
Can you add milk or produce to a regular Amazon order?
Amazon says customers can combine eligible fresh groceries and other eligible Same-Day items in one cart. Announced grocery categories include produce, dairy, meat, seafood, baked goods, and frozen food. Examples Amazon names include milk, eggs, bananas, strawberries, Honeycrisp apples, limes, avocados, and Roma tomatoes. Selection depends on location and current stock; the examples do not mean every item is available to every customer.
In its May 2026 update, Amazon said Amazon Grocery had more than 1,000 items, many priced below $5, and that its fresh grocery selection had increased by more than 30% since August. These are company-reported counts and comparisons; assortment and prices can change.

How much does Amazon same-day grocery delivery cost?
Amazon’s May 2026 materials state these Same-Day Delivery terms:

Is Amazon grocery delivery available in your area?
A national city-and-town count cannot tell you whether your address is in range, which items are in stock, or what delivery windows are open. Enter your address on Amazon’s grocery page or Same-Day Delivery page, then check the item listings and checkout details. Treat the available window and total shown for your own order as the practical answer; eligibility can differ even within a city.
How does Amazon say it handles perishable groceries?
Amazon says groceries move through a specialized temperature-controlled fulfillment network and that each item receives a six-point quality check when it arrives at a facility and before it leaves for delivery. It also says temperature-sensitive products may arrive in insulated bags depending on local weather. Amazon’s May 2026 update says its Freshness Guarantee applies to items displaying the guarantee badge.

Amazon’s May 2026 update says perishable grocery sales had grown 30 times since January and that fresh groceries made up nine of the ten most-ordered items where available. The company did not provide methodology or independent verification alongside those claims. Its executive Doug Herrington characterized customers as combining groceries with purchases such as electronics, gifts, clothes, and household essentials; that is Amazon’s account of customer behavior, not independent evidence of time saved.
