What is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon’s shopping event featuring deals exclusive to Prime members. Amazon’s 2026 U.S. event ran from June 23 through June 26 and ended at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on June 26. Amazon’s event FAQ and event announcement describe the event and its timing.

Prime Day is not a guarantee that every listed price is the lowest available or that every product is discounted. Treat it as a time-limited event and assess individual offers on their merits.
Do I need to be a Prime member to get Prime Day deals?
Amazon said Prime membership was required to access all Prime Day event savings in 2026. Eligible customers could use a free trial, and discounted membership options were available to qualifying groups. This requirement concerns Prime Day’s member-exclusive deals; it does not mean every ordinary Amazon price or offer requires Prime.

How much does Amazon Prime cost?
Amazon’s 2026 event FAQ listed the standard U.S. membership price as $14.99 per month or $139 per year, and a free 30-day trial for eligible customers. Amazon also described discounted plans for eligible young adults and students, as well as qualifying assistance recipients or income-verified customers. These are dated U.S. terms, not worldwide or permanent prices. Check Amazon’s membership information for current pricing and eligibility.
If you are considering joining only for a sale, compare the membership cost with the value of benefits you expect to use; the event alone does not establish that membership will save you money.

When is Prime Day, and are the dates the same worldwide?
There is no single global date to rely on. Amazon’s 2026 announcement named June markets and said customers in Australia, Brazil, India and Japan would shop later in the summer. Check the local Amazon site for the dates, membership eligibility and offers applicable in your country.
As of October 7, 2026, the U.S. Prime Day event has ended. Amazon’s landing page directs shoppers to Prime Big Deal Days, scheduled for October 6–7. The event page is the place to check for current event status and updates: Amazon’s Prime Day page.

Do Prime Day deals change during the event?
Yes. Amazon says offers can appear daily, including limited-time deals, and its FAQ says new deals may appear as often as every five minutes during select periods. An offer may expire or sell out, so a price seen earlier may not remain available.
Amazon lists several ways to keep track of items: deal and price alerts, Lists, Buy Again, the Amazon Shopping app and Alexa for Shopping features. For eligible items saved to a Wish List, Cart or Save for Later, Amazon says Alexa can notify users up to 24 hours in advance; Echo alerts are one option, not a requirement. How can I tell whether a Prime Day deal is good?
Use the price-history link on an eligible Amazon product page to compare the current offer with past prices. Amazon says the feature can show up to 365 days of history; its Alexa for Shopping description also refers to 30-, 90- and 365-day views in the U.S., UK and India. Amazon says more than 50 million customers had used the feature since its 2024 launch. Those are Amazon’s own feature and usage claims. Details are at Amazon’s price-history announcement.
Price history is context, not proof that a product is a bargain or that you need it. Before buying, check:

- Price: Compare the offer with the product’s eligible price history rather than relying on a crossed-out list price or sale label alone.
- Configuration: Confirm the exact model, size, quantity, generation and included accessories. Similar listings may not be the same product.
- Fit: Decide whether the specifications and features suit your needs; a low price does not make an unsuitable item good value.
- Return terms: Review the listing’s return conditions and deadline before placing the order.
Amazon says that during the most recent Prime Day, more than 80% of deals were at Amazon’s lowest price of the year so far. That is an Amazon-published promotional figure, not an independent audit or a finding that every deal was the best price for each shopper. Amazon’s deals article provides its claim.
Can I return a Prime Day purchase?
Amazon says most items delivered in the U.S. have free, convenient returns and points to more than 8,000 U.S. return locations. “Most” does not mean every item: confirm the specific product’s return terms, any exceptions and the deadline shown for your order. Amazon’s shopping tips describe its return locations and guidance.
