When was Prime Day 2025, and how long did it last?
In the United States, Prime Day 2025 ran from July 8 through July 11. Amazon described it as the first four-day Prime Day, extending the previous two-day format to four days. Amazon UK called the announced period 96 hours.
The dates varied by market: Amazon’s UK announcement said some participating countries began July 8, while other markets were scheduled to hold Prime Day later in the summer. The U.S. dates should not be treated as a global schedule. Amazon’s U.S. announcement and its UK announcement describe the respective plans.
Why did Amazon add two days?
Amazon said the longer event gave members more time to shop. Jamil Ghani, Amazon’s vice president of Prime, told the Associated Press that shoppers “wanted more time to shop and save.” That was Amazon’s stated rationale, not independent evidence that shoppers had asked for a longer sale.

Whether the extra time would lead to more purchases was less certain. The Associated Press reported that analysts questioned whether extending the event would translate into additional buying. Vivek Pandya, lead analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, described the opportunity as a way to “really amplify and accelerate the spending velocity,” in the context of a spending forecast—not a confirmed result. What did LeBron James have to do with the sale?
James appeared in Amazon’s date-announcement commercial. The campaign imagined how Prime Day deals might help him work out “What’s Next” in his career; it was promotional framing, not a statement from James about particular products or a personal shopping recommendation. Amazon’s campaign announcement identifies him as the star of the ad.

Keep three different measures separate: a forecast of online spending, Amazon’s own description of its event, and a verified final sales total. The available figures are not interchangeable.
