What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If Amazon’s price drops after you place an order, don’t assume the order will be repriced automatically. Open Your Orders → Order Details to see the options for that specific order. If cancellation is available, you can request it and reorder only after cancellation is confirmed; otherwise, contact Amazon through the order’s help flow and ask what options apply.
Check the order before taking action
- Open Your Orders. Select the order, then open Order Details and check its current status and available actions. Amazon says editable details have a Change control beside them. Available controls depend on the order; Amazon also notes that mobile may offer fewer address-change options than desktop. For a third-party seller order, address changes follow a contact-seller process. See Amazon’s order-detail and change instructions.
- Look for “Cancel items or order.” If the option appears, submit the cancellation request and wait for confirmation before treating the order as canceled.
- Compare the replacement offer. Before ordering again, check the item, seller, current price, shipping cost, delivery estimate, return conditions, and any promotion eligibility. The lower price or the same offer may no longer be available by the time you reorder.
Does Amazon automatically lower the price?
Don’t count on it. Amazon’s Exchange an Item help page says, “Amazon does not price match.” That exchange guidance is not a promise to reprice an unchanged order when its listing price falls.
An Amazon staff member, Ritu D., wrote in an Amazon Digital and Device Forums reply dated November 11, 2020, “Therefore, we don’t offer post-purchase adjustments.” That older forum response is corroboration, not a current standalone policy page covering every pre-shipment order.
Cancel and reorder, or keep the order?
Choose based on the options and offer you can verify—not just the displayed price. Amazon’s order help links to cancellation guidance, but does not guarantee that every order can be canceled while it remains unshipped. If cancellation is unavailable, or you are unsure whether the lower offer is worth losing your place in the delivery queue, contact Amazon Customer Service from the order’s help flow and ask what can be done for that order.

| Route | What to verify | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the order and ask support | Whether support can offer any option for this order; do not assume a courtesy credit or price adjustment. | You retain the existing order, but the lower listing price may not be applied. |
| Cancel and reorder | Cancellation is available and confirmed; the same item and seller still offer the lower price; delivery, shipping, return terms, and promotions remain acceptable. | The offer or delivery timing can change before you place the replacement order. |
Will canceling or reordering charge you twice?
A pending card authorization is not the same as a completed charge. Amazon says an authorization reserves funds with the bank; after a change or cancellation, Amazon notifies the bank that the authorization is no longer needed. Amazon states that release can take 5–7 days, but your issuing bank controls the timing for your account. Until the bank releases the hold, your available balance may still reflect it. See Amazon’s payment authorization explanation.
Check your card activity to distinguish a pending authorization from a posted transaction. If you see a completed charge or the hold remains longer than your bank’s expected release time, contact the bank or card issuer for account-specific help.

Is an exchange a way to get the price difference?
An exchange is a separate process from canceling an order and buying again. Amazon’s exchange help says an eligible exchange for a lower-cost item can return the difference, subject to the exchange rules. That does not mean an ordinary order is automatically adjusted because its price fell; check the exchange page and the options available for your item before relying on that route.
